My sweet Fluffy is gone

As of this moment my baby has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. The vet gave her a very thorough examination. Her body temperature didn't even register..it was well below 100 degrees. She was severely anemic from the fleas, badly dehydrated and almost gone by the time I got her in. The doc said it looked like she'd been sick inside for quite a while even though the symptoms never showed until now. He said a transfusion was needed and hundreds of dollars of lab work done. But even so the prognosis wasn't good at all. We both made the decision to humanely euthanize her. My daughter and I both gave her lots of love and kisses before he took her to the back. I'm going back up there in a bit to pick her up and bring her home to be buried next to her brothers and sisters. Please....anyone who thinks I did wrong or am a bad momma to my kitty, don't tell me off or put me down. I did the best I could with what I had and I feel lousy enough as it is. Again...thank you all my wonderful friends for being here for me and listening to my sorrows. I love you all......Carryl

I am so sorry for your loss. I know you made the right decision and no one has the right to say you didn't. I've never had to make that decision and I hope I never do. But I have felt the loss of a pet as you already know. Sending a hug your way.

Carryl, I'm so sorry and I know how you feel when you feel like you're doing the best thing for the animal and it's so hard to make that decision to begin with. I made the decision to put one of my babies to sleep a few years ago and it broke my heart and I felt guilty for so long. But I knew that there was no way to save him and he could barely move. So, don't feel guilty over this. Evidently, the fleas just ate her up and that's hard enough to deal with. This is part of the reason I want to get Patches' Pet Pals off the ground so that we can make sure animals can get flea and other treatments before the animal suffers. How did she have such a flea problem without you knowing it? Was she an indoor/ outdoor cat? I'm so sorry because I know how much you'll miss her. Take care and email me if you want to talk further. Fluffy was an indoor cat. But she was one of the ones that was highly "susceptible" to flea infestation. I don't know what it was about her that they liked so much, but they seemed to go to her right off the bat. I have an indoor/outdoor cat that I have a hard time keeping flea free. So I think they migrate in with him each year and it's hard to stop the outbreak sometimes. The thing is, I treated her with the Seargeant's flea drops before she disappeared under my bed, but apparently that stuff has absolutely no effect whatsoever. I broke down and bought the Frontline spray and now my other cats are doing better. Now we're treating the carpets and furniture and I'm mopping floors like crazy. I miss her so much but at least she isn't suffering any more. Thanks so much for being here for me hon. You are an awesome friend.

Carryl,You need to get Advantage for the other animals. It works so well! Of course, my cats are all indoor cats and I don't have any other animals bringing fleas in but after I treated them about 3 years ago and haven't had fleas since then. You may have to treat them every month since you have indoor/outdoor animals but the stuff really works well.

At least your Fluffy is in kitty heaven playing with all those barns of angelic yarn, chasing tiny dogs, and rolling in magic catnip. Fluffy was too sick. That was probably why she was hiding. She wanted a place to be alone and die. Animals are like that. They have this instinct when it is time to go, to not bother us. So you were not a heartless person for helping to Kitty Heaven.

awww, Carryl, that's about the hardest thing you have to do and it is the kindest I know it hurts like everything to have to make this choice, but you do it for the love of your kitty. Know that she's now at the Bridge, happy and once again young and healthy, waiting for you.

Oh Katlady, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss of Fluffy, this doesn't seem to be a very good day, for as you know CatsandDogs beloved Gracie passed into Rainbow Bridge today as well. And heavens no, you're not a bad "momma"--you did the best you could and for many years took care of her. Now she's in Rainbow Bridge, out of pain and frolicking with all your other former babies, and maybe even playing with mine. My thoughts and prayers are with you for your own healing. (((hugs)))

Carryl, you're not a bad mommy at all and if anybody thinks differently needs their heads examined. But I've got to tell you, wow.... aren't we both getting the short end of the stick right now. I lost my Gracie and you lost your Fluffy. Life isn't fair but we have to live on until our time comes where and when we all can be together again. Like I said to someone in my discussion, there's so many still out there in need of homes and I'm staying here to help all I can. Gracie and Fluffy are up in Heaven having a good ole time and we'll be with them in our own time. Sending hugs your way sweetie!! Lean on me and I'll lean on you, we'll get through this together. Bless your heart!

Please accept my condolences at this time. Losing a pet is never easy, but its even harder when they have been ill and you have to make the decision to have them put to sleep. Please take care of yourself and know that she is healthy and happy on the other side :))

Carryl, I'm so sorry about the loss of Fluffy. You didn't do anything wrong, and of course you weren't a bad momma. In hiding in your bed, it was you that Fluffy wanted to be near, I just know she knew how much you loved her, and loved you in return. There is nothing to tell you off about. I hope over time that all the good memories will give you comfort and peace. Our pets are so very loved and with us such a short period of time. The blessing is in the time that they are with us. Hugs to you.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. You did what you felt was best for her, a most difficult decision to make. It is horrible decision to have to make, but sometimes it really is the best we can do for our beloved companions. You did everything your could for Fluffy, she knows it, and she knows how you love her. She is at peace now, and will be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for you when your time here is done. I know how much it hurts, and I am so very sorry for your pain. you will be in my thoughts, God Bless Fluffy and take her sweet soul to heaven in His warm embrace, and may God Bless you and help your heart to find healing.

I am so sorry you had to have your cat put to sleep. It's so hard but as pet owners, we need to make good decisions for our animal when they are so sick. I just went through this myself in January with our cat. I took her to the vet, the vet told me to take her home for the weekend and see if the steriod injections worked. They did not. By Monday I was frantic and begged my husband to take her to be put to sleep. To ease my pain, I threw away her bowls, litterbox and toys. I miss her but at the same time she was just too sick to keep her alive. She couldn't eat, drink or use her litterbox. She was too weak to purr. It was time. And like you mention in your discussion, I didn't know our cat was sick and the symptoms must have been there for a long time. The vet explained to me that cats have a way of hiding their feelings when they are sick. I will say a little prayer for Fluffy.

Awwww... my sincerest condolences my friend. That's an awful decision to have to make. I know because I've been there, but we take the path we think best for our pets, and that is all we can do. Poor Fluffy had suffered long enough, as my cat had when I had to send him off to the Rainbow Bridge. They're both free of the pain now, my friend. How can we have done wrong by them? Brightest Blessings are sent to you along with my healing energies for both you and your daughter. Take care. xx

Im sorry for your loss but i believe you did the right thing, instead of letting the poor cat suffer longer and try to save it, which looked very glim you let it die in peace with as little suffering to bear in. Anyone who puts you down for that is very impatetic to animals and just see's them as belongings and not as an actual living thing that can feel pain.
