Government and welfare safety nets

We are getting tired of hearing of people getting frustated of losing their jobs to the extent of shooting their families and committing suicide. We really need to ask whether the government has set adequate welfare safety nets in this recession? These tragic deaths have to be stopped. I would not want to imagine how many Americans are on the edge and are considering this tragic option. http://norrisl4.blogpico.com

As far as I know the government has set up adequate welfare sefety nets for the majority of people in need but, as harsh as this may sound, there has to be limits. For instance, I was layed off last November. I'm collecting unemployment and my husband receives monthly disability payments from the V.A. I'm sure our income is still too high to qualify for government benefits so we had to tighten our belts. Sometimes you have to lose things. We can't expect the government to step in and support a middle to upper income lifestyle. There are many ways to get help if you feel that you're losing it and are likely to hurt yourself or someone else. It's not the government's fault if you choose to harm your family instead of accepting that your life has to change.

You are right to a degree Spalladino, but our government seems to care more about illegals, and helping other countries half the time, then it cares about or wants to help those who are disabled, close to living on the street, and these folks paid out the rear all their lives, and more money is spent to insure they never see that which was supposed to be a "security system", instead of giving them what is theirs anyway.
