To be Scared or not to be Scared?

I am a huge fan of scary movies but it seems like the newer movies, rather than being scary they are just getting stupid. What is your favorite scary movie? Who is your favorite killer? Do you like your movies with lots of blood and gore or do you just like to be scared? I don't think I can narrow it down to one favorite but of the newer movies I have seen one of my favorites was "The Strangers". It wasn't so much of a blood fest but it definitely had some parts that had you on the edge of your seat. My favorite killer has always and will always be Michael Myers from Halloween. I don't care if there is a lot of blood and gore but I do want to be scared. What's the point of a good scary movie if you aren't scared? I want to be so scared that I have to check every room in the house. LOL

yeah, the newer movies are more like they just splash a lot of blood so they can qualify as horror movies. my favorite horror movie is Shutter, as I find the story to be quite moving. my favorite killer? Michael Myers, of course!

Oh yea shutter was really good. The whole thing of the chic being there on his back. LOL That was insane. It was very suspensful as well. Gotta love Michael Myers.

I expected a lot from the strangers since it was liv tyler, but the movie didn't meet my expectations. Most part of the movie makes you think that why would i even do what the actors did in that given situation. I hate it when directors make it seem that the viewers are stupid to not figure out what should be the initial reaction to these things. Anyway the new movies that are coming out has been what you said kind of stupid that you don't feel the scare factor.

I agree with you, they just don't make them like the used to. I did like Strangers though but when I think about what you said it's true there were other reactions that you would expect rather than what they gave us.

There are so many scary movies to choose from, Michael Myers is definitely good at what he does. When watching "Child's Play" I must admit I do check under the bed to make sure "Chucky" isn't under there. LOL

I am a horror film fanatic too and I noticed also that there are fewer horror films being produced in the film industry now adays. Most horror films are not scarry anymore and turns out to be very idiot to watch. My favorite horror films are Halloween series, Scream series and some Korean and Japanese horror films. Maybe Film makers are not that good anymore for horror genres.

I do agree they just don't make them like they use to. The old Halloween, Friday the 13th, etc... are the best. I have watched a few Japanese Films such as "The Audition" and "A Tale of Two Sisters" that were just freaky but in an awesome way.
