Hmmmmm. I sometimes have this problem too. If I watched an exciting or action movie before bed, then i will find myself difficult to sleep. What I usually do if i cannot sleep is that I will just go though what are the things i need to get done the next day and go though the list again and again till i get so bored and fall asleep.

do you have a sleeping disorder? like insomnia or something? I think you should go to a doctor and check it out. And if theres nothing wrong try sedatives? or maybe juz tire your self out with work or play. Good luck!

I try to take a shower as hot as I can stand it and it relaxes me some. Then I crawl into bed and sometimes that is it but other times I will read a book till I am sleepy enough and at times if it is a boring book..it pouts me right to sleep.

I struggle with this a LOT! Nowadays I watch movies on my laptop until I drift off to sleep, but one of the things I used to do before this, was to take the alphabet and then try to remember someone I know or knew (Male AND Female) whose name starts with each letter. I'd then picture their faces and move on to the next letter. This usually worked quite well! The other thing I used to do was to picture myself leaving my body and walking out of my room and then out through the front door. I'd then see how far I could get and still be able to picture all my surroundings.

I have a chant I say over and over when I need to turn off the chatter in my mind. I also use it when I am feeling down or needing to do something I know is going to be hard for me to do. It works like a charm most every time. Some people count sheep or recite a prayer of just have some kind of montra they say over and over again. If you don't fall asleep you are very relaxed.

I have this problem often...it seems like my brain goes constantly and I can't get it to shut off. Here's what I do to make myself fall asleep...I warn you it sounds nuts LOL Way back when I was a teenager I was reading a Nancy Drew book and in this book she was following a set of stone steps down to an underground room...the stairs went on and on and on and on...I actually fell asleep reading about her going down these steps. Now when I get tired and can't turn off my brain, I picture myself following these same moss covered stone steps down and down and before I know it I'm out like a light. I've used this technique for ages and it's never failed me...I don't know what it is about the steps but it works for me. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

I usually try to think of something pleasant, like what I would do if I actually won the lottery. If that doesn't work, I start doing math in my head. Nothing more boring than that, so the brain will turn itself off to get away

I think about helping Dana the famous actress/writer/singer decorate her dream house. Actually I almost never have trouble falling asleep. But if I do I put on an old move and get involved in it and it never fails, fall asleep and miss the ending. Then I wake up thinking about it wondering how it ended.

You could try some classics, such as "watching paint dry", "watching the grass grow" or "watching a kettle boil". If all else fails, count some sheep Baa baa Most of the time I will read a book and after a while I will drift off but then it does depend on the book.
