Yesterday on the Todayshow, I saw and heard this story and I nearly "hurled" from the sight of these poor neglected horses; The sight of them was just sickening!!!Here is the Story;http://allday.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2009/04/17/1895781.aspx
The Written Article does nothing for what they showed on tv, but I tell you what
it was AWFUL!!!here is the video link to the full story on it as aired;http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/30263095#30263095
I just don't understand the How and "why" of something like this happening out there to such wonderful kind and beautiful animals that horses are:
I hope they throw the book at the owner and his excuse of "not knowing" just does not cut it with me, even if you own only ONE HORSE or one pet of any kind, you need to be aware of all times what is going on with that pet;
Is it being care for?Is it being fed?Does it have Water?
I mean come on!!! Playing "stupid" does not work for me in this type of situation;
The photo I have put up on this discussion is one from some horses that I fell dearly in love with when a friend of mine brought them over to my Father's Farm
back in 2007, I got to love them as if they were my own for a year and then long story short, Thanks To dear old Dad, he wanted them GONE!!
My father and I came to our worst yelling matches ever over that ordeal;I love Horses, I love all animals and to have this kind of neglect as I said up
above just sickens me to my very core;I'm going to enclose one more shot of my favorite horse that I had the pure privilege of knowing and loving, and help to take care of for a whole year;Take a look at the picture if you like; Dearest Babe had the most kindest heart
and gentlest soul you could ever imagine in a horse and I wish I had had better
health and would have loved to ride her, or ( any horse) just one more time out on our Farm but that didn't happen due to my neck and back injuries but I sure dreamed about it; Still do;
So what's your take on this stupid jerk that did not care for or see to all these beautiful horses he owned;??
I say hang him myself!!! and that's too "easy" for him as punishment!!!

HI there uath13: Wow! I don't think I could handle your Mother's job;
Yeah the economy is making things hard for us all, but this guy has money, and supposedly he was paying out each month for them to be cared for, but as the owner
he never followed up to see that his animals indeed were being cared for.
I don't know I'm sure they will have more on this story as it all unfolds;
very heartbreaking!!!

Right; I've not heard any more about it on the news myself, but that was the "excuse" he was giving when he got let out on bail...but still if you own that many animals or even one horse would you not at some point in time, go see it? Make sure it was ok? alive? I don't buy it !!

Isn't this just awful?! I agree with you. this person should be hung or worse! I have been around horses all my life and I wouldn't dream of doing any of my horses this way! It's such an expense and such a waste! I see cases like this on animal planet all the time and I just don't know how anybody can be so mean! I would like to adopt one of these horses but I already have one and as I'm sure you know, they can get expensive. My heart goes out to these horses! Kathy.

Maybe some day I will have more $$money$$ to where I can help and save animals in need, its something I've always wanted to do and be a part of;
thanks for stopping by; And give your horse a big old hug for me ok?
I miss them so much!!

OH Kathy: I'm so sorry to hear about your Horse , Wow! That horse lived a long time that's amazing!! I know that had to be really really hard on you, I just can't imagine that, any horses I had when I was younger and growing up was always sold and then I got another one you know? I never had one long enough to live out its years;
and you lost your dog too? I love Alaskan Malamute's they are so beautiful and so close to that of a Wolf which makes them even more special to me; I'm sorry that you lost your dog too, you have for sure endured a lot of pain;
It's a shame too about the young horse given to you, sounds like the young stud is having some issues, do you live where there are any Amish people that could train
your horse? They really are good at it and they take their time and are much more
gentle than some "trainer's" out there;
Well either way if you get a different horse I hope its another friendship that will last a long long time, This young horse you have now is sensing your "fear" of him
and he could be a danger to you if not taught to behave and soon;
you know the bigger they get, the stronger they get too; Maybe this horses temperament is just more than you can handle??
Please be careful and Keep me posted I always love to hear of a good horse story;
I like your choice of names too, I like Billy Ray too, I got to meet him many years ago In TN at Fan Fair and I got to see him perform back when he first became famous; His Daughter of course is really getting popular too;
Great Talent, Great people I hope they both continue to succeed but I hope Miley
keeps her head on straight, so much stuff happens to those young stars these days;
I'm sure Billy Ray is keeping a straight hand on her (g)!!
Sorry again about your loss of your pets, I know full well how hard it is;
They get into our hearts and souls don't they?

Hi dreamweaverjan! It was good to hear from you and thank you for your concern! No, I wasn't afraid of Cyrus to begin with. Like I said, though, I don't get out in the pasture with him any more unless I absolutely have to and if he's not anywhere close. Yes, I realize horses know when you're afraid of them. I've been around horses since I was 7 years old and I'm 57 now. I just never did work with any wild ones much. He's just a baby and he does these things not meaning to. Sometimes his feed bucket is not where I can reach it and I just have to go out there and get it. My nephew brought his horse trailer for me to feed him in. What I do is put the bucket in a window on the front side of the trailer and he comes in the trailer to eat. It's right next to the fence. My nephew had trained him to load into a trailer and we're making sure he doesn't forget, if you know what I mean. No, we don't have any Amish people where I live. I've been to the Amish Country, though. I went to Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1988 and I really enjoyed that. That's beautiful country up in there! I used to travel a lot but I can't afford it these days.
I met Billy Ray Cyrus one time myself, twice in a week as a matter of fact. I went to the Choctaw Indian Fair in 1999 in Philadelphia, Mississippi. I didn't know that Billy Ray was going to be there until a few nights before I left. It was quite a surprise! I got to have my picture made with him but that whole roll of film didn't turn out. he was in concert that night at the fair. A few nights later, he was in concert at Old York in Oakman, Alabama, which is a little community about fifteen miles south of where I live. I knew he was coming to Oakman because I bought tickets way in advance. I was in the fan club back then and I got to go back stage and have my picture made with him again. This picture turned out and it's still on my refrigerator. I hope he doesn't think I'm following him, LOL! Kathy.

Hi, dreamweaverjan! I saw the video on the talk show. And it is so sad that the owner had all these horses, and could not take the proper care of them. It is a pity! He seems to be well taken care of, so why is his horses suffering? The horses looked so sad and malnourished to the point of them being very weak looking. If he felt that he was not going to take care of the horses like he is supposed to, then he should have given them up for adoption. Now, all the horses are going to be adopted without a thing that he can do. It is terrible how man can abuse the glory and blessings that God put on earth. It is for us to enjoy and love. But some people abuse this privledge. I just hope and pray that God will allow these horses to get the best love, care and treatment from another responsible owner. They don't need to suffer anymore.

HI Cream: I know what you mean, that story really does weigh heavily on my mind;
its like every horse there is just crying out to be helped and saved and taken away from that idiot owner;
All of God's creatures are such true blessings, but for me a horse is right at the top of my list, I've loved them from the moment I first sat on my Shetland pony
when I was 2 years old, in that old photo you could clearly read my face as to the fact that I didn't want my brother on the pony with me, I wanted to be on there all by myself LOL! By the age of 3 I was riding the shetland pony by myself;
I honestly don't know how those poor darlin's ever survived the winter that they had out there in NY, I could just burst into tears now thinking about it all;
It really does upset me, Someday if I ever get Rich enough to own my own land, I would love to have a place for horses that are aging, and any animal in need to be able to come there and live out there lives in peace you know what I mean?
when I see those kinds of places, I really do admire those people;
But for the Scumbags of the world that abuse them, I have zero tolerance and their silly excuses only make me madder you know?
I pray they all find good homes and I hope that God blesses each of the families that adopt them too!

We were watching the show at the same time. I could not watch it after I saw then touch the horse's mane and the coat just came away. I left and showered. It so disgusted me that anyone could treat animals in this manner. More than sickening. The horses looked so sad- heartbreaking

HI cynthiann: Yeah it was just awful to see that!! I've loved horses my whole life since I grew up with them on the farm, did you happen to see the two horse pics
I included for this discussion?? if not check them out, they were some horses
that a friend of mine put on my Dad's farm back in late 2007, I got to be with them for a year, It broke my heart when they had to leave;
When you look into a horses eyes, Like Babe's its like looking into a window into their souls, so peaceful, so beautiful!!
I always wanted to have a place for the handicapped adults and children to be able to ride horses you know, therapeutic horses, but doubt that dream will ever happen;
We have the room on our farm, but for me personally there is no money for me to buy
out my idiot brother's half of the farm;
but I still dream the dream!!

As a child, I would cycle 15 miles to ride a horse for less than hour and then ride the 15 miles back home. I loved them so much. I would do this every Saurday. I love horses and just oculdn't watch the rst of the story on TV. turned up my stomach. I haven't looked at the photos yet of your horses but will do so. Blessings

Even though i have not been near or much less seen a horse real life, i do care what happens to all animals...And like you, this type of neglect sickens me to the point that if i ever see him around i don't know if i'd just go an kick him in the shins or better, his gonads. I mean he even had the cheek to play stupid, is he really asking for it??? Cuz i am willing to give it to him! ={

Hi Mira91:: Yeah baby!! I know what you mean I think there is a bunch of us out there who'd like to have a "turn" at him for this abuse to so many horses;
LOL! I like your spirit!!
Thanks for stopping by;
I do hope he gets what's coming to him, or anyone else that may be in his employment;
shame on him or anyone else!!!

Everytime I hear about animals being abused it makes me very upset and sick to my stomach.I will never understand the evil that people do and the levels of torture they inflict especially on innocent animals who can't speak out or defend themselves it's just horrible.It just breaks my heart what this monster has done.What that man did is unexcusable and I hope he suffers and gets the severest of punishments.A hanging is to kind,I would love to see him strung up and tortured and treated like he did those poor horses let's see how he feels when it happens to him.

{{faeryoftheshire}}, I agree whole with you 100% +++++++
I'd love to see him receive the same sort of treatment and then some!!!
You just can't have that many animals and NOT know if they are or are not receiving food or care;
I just pray they all find good decent loving homes now, anything is better than what they had; Poor things!!!

I'll be honest, I'm not going to read the article because I don't like to hear about any animal being harmed. Let me just say this, even though I haven't read it, I hope the owner comes to justice and that the horse(s) will be justified.

I'm not going to read the article because I know my blood will boil once I learned how these horses were abused.I am an animal lover, and I hope whoever abused them will be punished - abused the very same way he did to the animals!

HI Coco; I agree with you; Its the video that is so sad to see, the written article doesn't go into details like the video clip from the today show does;
The whole thing just makes my blood boil; If I lived out there in that state I'd
be right in that guys face and I'd be the one to wind up in jail, he's out on bond;
I don't see how some people can get away with the things they do in life; I really don't;
