Some people say yum yum. I say Yuk!. I do love hunting them, but hate to eat them. My family and I have been mushroom hunting a few times already. My dad and the rest of my family are hunting them now. I didn't go today. They are plenty of them in the woods this year around WV. How do you like to eat them?

Oh, but why do you hate them? I like mushrooms any which way they are prepared. Just the other night i asked my husband if we could eat out because i was not able to go to the wet market after leaving the office and there was nothing in the freezer for me to cook. But on my way home i remembered i still have half a packet of angel hair and a can of seasoned mixed mushrooms i bought for the first time some three months ago. With the pasta topped with that great-tasting mixture of the edible fungi and some minced garlic fried in olive oil we felt like we just experienced one satisfying special meal you can find in some popular Italian-sounding restaurants!

Now i understand you, because there's one fruit i also dislike. We call it cheza, i'm not even sure how to spell that correctly and i don't know it's English term. I know it is rich in vitamins especially vitamin A because of its yellow color, but i just don't like it because it sticks to my teeth! ^_^

I guess it's all based on individual preference; different people like different things. For me, mushrooms are one of the delicacies that I like a lot - button mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms etc....I especially like the smell of mushrooms when they are cooked; the aroma is just so pleasant for my nose! For me, I normally use mushrooms when I cook the sauce base for pasta, and I also sometimes use them when I boil soup. It can also be used for other purposes like just putting them in sandwiches. Mushrooms are pretty versatile to use in cooking....

My family like mushroom a lot. We like them in mushroom soup put in casseroles, on pizza, and from the fair deep fried. We like them raw on salads too. When we lived in Kansas we went mushroom hunting when the kids were little. We found the oyster mushroom and the morals. They are the only ones we trusted because so many of the poisonous one look so much alike and we didn't know any experts. We had a lot of fun even when we didn't find many. it's a nice way to get to spend time with the kids and get out side too.

The problem with even studying the good books is that some do look alike. There really aren't that many that are poisonous.

I have never gone out and picked wild mushrooms to eat them, but I do love mushrooms you can get in the store. My favorite are the regular button mushrooms and portabella mushrooms.

I think that mushrooms are OK. I dont particulary like thme but they are low in calories and that is a definite plus. I think that there are some good things about them is they tend to add bulk but not calories, but I dont really think they are all that geat actually. I would be afraid to pick them wild.

I only like certain types of mushrooms and the ones I like have to be cooked in butter.I don't know the name of them. There are a lot of nasty mushrooms out there.

Hi Mjsdls, I have never been hunting for mushrooms, it sounds like a lot of fun. My luck I would pick the ones that make you sick. I love fresh mushrooms in my salad, cooking in an omelet, on pizza, in spaghetti sauce, sauteed, on burgers with swiss cheese, but my favorite way is stuffed with a crab meat stuffing and then broiled with a touch of butter. There are many ways to use mushrooms and I like just about every way.

I lolve mushrooms. Especially the fresh ones as I do not like the canned ones really. My favourite way of cooking mushrooms is to wipe them, dot them butter and season with salt and black pepper. I then wrap them up in tin foil and bake them in the oven. They taste so delicious this way as the taste has not disappeared and it is wonderful. I also love thme on pizza and also cooked with steak. Haven;t has a steak in 2 years but it was wonderful slathered with fried onions and mushrooms.

I don't like the canned mushrooms, only the fresh ones bought from the produce stall. And then I only like them cooked, sauteed with onions to put in homemade spaghetti sauce. Mushroom hunting, though, sounds like a lot of fun. Where i grew up we used to have tons of mushrooms (I used to think of them, when I was a child, as homes for fairies.). I never once ate mushrooms as a child, though. My mom claimed the ones we had were the poison variety. I'm curious. How do you know which ones are safe to pick for eating and which ones might be poison?

I did not like mushrooms when I was young because I was very picky about food and they just seemed weird. I like them very much now and I eat them often, but I have discovered that it is not good to have too many of them.

I don't think I could live without mushrooms lol. I like them in spaghetti most. When we have steak, I will fry some onion, garlic and mushroom, season it a little with some black pepper and a little salt or herbs and spices, and put them over the steak. Yummy.

You had me a "YUK". I can't stand these things!!! There are so many recipes now that have them in and I have no idea what I can substitute for them because the rest of the recipe sounds good. The recipe name gives no hint of mushrooms, yet there they are, all 1 or 2 cups of them, sitting there in the ingredient list. For me, eating a mushroom is like eating a snail. Slimy and squishy. I'm not knocking those who eat them. Just please don't expect me to do the same. I love chicken marsala, but I push all the mushrooms I can find to the side. I'll even use mushroom soup in cooking, but the actual mushrooms - no flippin' way!! I even tried them batter dipped and fried and couldn't finish the thing. Yet, I like pickles that way and no other way. The fungus among us just doesn't sit well with me.

Well, considering that's my avatar, then I'd say yes. I to like mushrooms. I grow some and also hunt them but pickens get slim. I like them in anything italian, in eggs, bread wraps and even deep fried. Diced on a salad when I'm in the mood too. Mushrooms are rich and really it's a love hate relationship with them. Poeple either love them or hate them. Or they love them but hate them when they have stomache upset. LOL I like my mushrooms, but there has to be a when to say when with them too.
