children are the future

what can you say about this statement, "children are the future of the country" When I was young, A teacher of mine mentioned that we should strive hard to meet our goal because we contribute much to the future. I became a professional but it seems my country is just the same.

Dont say country is same now, dont you think so that, there is a lots of improvements/developments now, compared to those young days?? We modify your statement and say "Todays children are tommorrows citizens"
