Our community needed some rain, but we got over seven inches this afternoon and the winds reached 60 miles an hour in gusts. We were at a school function and were trapped by rising water in the streets. It took three hours before it receded enough for us to get home. Lots of folks had their cars flooded out. It was a bad day for them.
What is the most rain you have received in one afternoon?

It was a lot. I do not know but it was at least a couple of inches and it was really pouring, the water was going down the street, the sewers were plugged, umbrellas broke. That does happen in the summer when we get a shower and also in later spring. And we had the flood of a century a few years ago here. The banks of the Assinboine and Red River were overflowing and some of the houses in the plains were flooded. And they had to reinforce the dams.

The power of rushing, or even rising water is impressive and can be scary!
