Repairing A Tear In My Leather Sofa

I started this discussion last night but it's not in my list of discussions I have started. Since I didn't see it posted, I thought I would try it again. Anyway, I've been a little upset at Prissy here lately. She's my little Jack Russell Terrier and she looks just like the one in this picture. She made a small tear in my black leather sofa in the kitchen! To give you an idea about how big it is, I thought it was a moth at first and I tried to brush it off. That's when I discovered it was a tear. It's in the shape of a little butterfly, anyway. Can somebody please tell me how I can fix this? Also, how can I keep Prissy from making tears like this in the future? She loves to sleep on this sofa. I can't help but think what my mother would think if she were alive and saw it. She was a real neatnik and she didn't like animals in the house. My sister, who lives next door, hardly ever comes over here but when she does come she criticizes my housekeeping. She also notices when something's not right so I would hate for her to see this tear. I would also like to have it fixed before it gets any worse. Kathy.
