Can I clean my diamond ring w/ toothpaste?

I heard toothpaste was a good way to clean my ring but then someone told me that the toothpaste was too abrasive, is that true?

Well if you have tried it and the result was good,then now,I have no worries of cleaning my ring with toothpaste.Thanks for your answer.

I don't think so. I think toothpaste can only used to clean silver jewelries not diamond.
