I have been driving now for almost 8 years. I got my license when I was 17 years old. I have only learned how to drive an automatic car, which is fine by me. I really have no desire to learn how to drive a stick shift. *knock on wood* I've never been in any sort of accident, so I don't really fear driving in traffic at all. I hope that you are able to get over this fear and begin driving more again.

I think I should try again with the automatic car. I was told I should be careful and patient when I try.

Hi, I think most of us had once or twice got into some minor accidents or so. When I first got my car, I scratched my car door very badly (too near to the house gates). My sister banged the front lights out her first time out, after getting her licence. Since then, I still get some minor bumps and scratches. You have to try again, to give yourself more confidence in driving - practice makes perfect, and soon you will not fear driving anymore.

I started driving when I was 16 but for some reason, when I got married and gave birth to my son, I began to dislike driving, I get stressed with driving. Maybe because of the way other people drive in our place, maybe its because I began to have some fear in me that nothing should happen to me for the sake of my kids or maybe I don't want to have any accidents because I would mean additional cost to my already strained finances. It must have been 4 years since I stopped, I still renew my license, in case I would need to drive, but I prefer to let my husband drive everytime we go out.

I've got my driver's license many years ago and since than I've been driving almost everyday. Of course, I don't really have a choice to commute to work but even on the weekends, I love getting in my car and taking long drives to countryside or to different places around my town that I have never seen before. Driving helps me to relax most of the time; or, If I have an issue that I need to resolve, it's the perfect time to focus on it while I'm driving (bear in mind, I still pay attention to the road, lol). I have never had an accident since the first day I started to drive. I believe that as long as you're very careful, accidents can be avoided - needless to say that you can't control how others drive but still, I never think about having an accident while I drive. I just prefer enjoying my time on the road.

What is it that you are afraid of? Is it the driving? another accident? or another blackmailer? Do you feel unsure with your driving skills? May I suggest that you check it out if you can. If it is an accident you are afraid of, then you have to see a doctor to talk this issue out. If it is another blackmailer, then see to it that you are more aware of the consequences and knowledge from your previous experience. It is such a great freedom to be able to drive, so think about it again. Good-luck!

I have owned the valid license since 2006. Since then I tried driving manual car. But it keep stop and nearly got me into accident. Then, I learn to drive automatic car and been driving that since. I don't think I'll drive manual car in this near future, I am too comfortable with automatic.
