What is your occupation outside of myLot?

I know for me I'm a student so therefore myLot is a great way for me to make money in my spare time when otherwise it would be hard for me to get a regular job to go. So that got me wondering what type of users actually use myLot and for what source of income. So what is your occupation outside of the home and how does that relate to why you choose to earn money online? And also - is myLot/internet sites your main source of income or do you use it just to pay for things that are more novelty items?

I am a Student myself and half through my graduation. I didn't choose internet as a source of income but just stumbled upon it because I surf internet a lot and thus I got accesses to all this stuff. Besides mylot I have created my own website and I am also an active member of neobux.

What type of website have you set up? I know a lot of my friends from school, the websites they actually have up are either for graphic design, blogs for classes, or sites for their music/productions. Like for me I'm just starting a graphic design one and then for the TV Sketch Comedy we have a site up as well so therefore we can get a larger audience than just the kids on campus which get the TV station. Have you been earning money through the website?

I am not a professional nor I have taken any specific course in designing. I had just made it in html with help of Microsoft web expression stdio. I have been writing a lot of content lately. It takes time to write. You can visit it by visiting my profile it you want. I am still learning a lot of things and one day I want to launch a site comparable to mylot.com!! ya I have been earning money from my blog(about 0.15$ per day) and thus the idea of making your own website came to my mind. And once it is completed I will start working on a new concept. If you have any questions you can ask me. Thanks for your response and happy mylotting

I was "let go" from my last job due to having a baby and needing to take maternity leave. So I found myLot online as at home work, so I have been doing this to help make a little bit of money to help out. I wouldn't consider this really a good source of income unless you really have the time to dedicate to the site. But, it is nice to get paid for discussing topics with people! Happy myLotting!

There are in some states but where I'm at they don't protect you. I was also working for a "small construction company" in the office, so it was a "critical" position that had to be filled and they alloted me 4 weeks only of paid maternity but I was going to need 6 weeks for a c-section. They wouldn't work 2 more weeks so in turn they hired a replacement... I'm sure I could go to a lawyer and pay a lot of money and try and fight it but I'm sure it wouldn't do me much good since I have read many women in my state stories online about a similar situation and nothing being done. Oh well, life isn't always fair and the only plus side is that with the time off from work I get to watch my little girl grow up...

That is true, those first few years in her life are going to be the ones that you aren't going to want to miss for the world. In the situation I see both your side and the company's side. It has to be hard not have someone working the office for that period of time and its not fair to tell a person they hired they're now fired because you're back. Plus I don't think paying for lawyers would get you that far - I can only imagine how much you would actual have to pay for it and then going back to the job would be awkward as well.

I'm sorry to hear that. I know for my sister, since she had a lot of complications during the pregnancy her work allowed her to take 6 weeks off. It was better than the 4 they were suppose to give her but still a little bit less than the 8 the doctors wanted. I thought there was some law in place that you couldn't get fired for having to take maternity leave and they had to give you a certain amount of time off? I know we were learning about it in my Gender Politics class.

My job outside of the home is working for the forestry service, I'm a wildland firefighter. However I work seasonally from March to Novemeber, so I have downtime to get on mylot. I'm not really here about the money, I think it's just a little bonus, I enjoy all the discussions, and it's fun. The money I make here I normally spend on scrapbooking supplies so it's just for fun.

I absolutely enjoy scrapbooking! I just started this year and I've been photoshopping a ton of my images so they really go with the design layout of the page and I know how expensive things can get. Like it doesn't seem its expensive - $20 for a book, 25-50 cents for a page, but once you start getting the stickers and the little extra things everything comes together and its just wow. I already told people when the book is finish I won't be surprise if I've come to spend a couple hundred bucks on it. I just started one for my little sister too while she's in high school and so every holiday what I'm doing is adding in a page for her.

Studying does tend to take up a lot of free time. I know I have final exams coming in about a month and so that is going to really wonderful for me. I'm going to have to cut back on a lot of things that I do on the Internet. The only thing that I have to keep up with is my downline site because otherwise I'm not making points if I'm not active.

Hi, anotherxidentity! I am a full-time homemaker. I stay at home with my kids. I don't work any kinds of outside job. I use myLot just to have the extra spare of the moment change. I choose to earn money online because it is easy and quick for me. I don't have to rush to work everyday. Nor, do I have to get dressed. I am looking more into finding me another online job that can pay me honestly as myLot pays me.

Hi. I work for a Software Multinational as full time job. I work for 5 days a week. I found mylot from some source of internet (Now even I forgot how I came to mylot :-) ).. But mylot is fun, especially with so much entheuastic people around here. Mylot is not my 'additional' source of income as I am young to mylot and my current earnings stand at 4.43 $ which is pretty low as it has been a month that I joined here. But I am here@mylot for getting in touch with various people from various corners of world. Mylot has made world a small place :-) It feels so good that within few minutes after we start a discussion, responses will be poured into that discussion. Thats the energy and spirit MyLot has. Well...I will be hooked to MyLot especially in weekends. Happy mylotting

I've learned a lot from the other people here at myLot - not just from different countries but from the U.S. as well. Its a learning experience to see how different mindset and opinions work. I'm from Virginia, so how things are here aren't going to be the same in California or someplace in the Midwest.

Outside mylot I have a full time office job five days a week. The weekends are off and so I have those two days all to myself. Mylot to me is not an online money making option, its more of a device to communicate with people and have a good time. My main income is from my office where I do general office work.

That is what I'm planning on using my money for as well. I absolutely love some of the things I can find on Ebay so its easier just to use the money in my account to buy whatever I want. It's a lot less hassle and I figured its an easier way to set limits on what I can buy online.

Hi. I am a student as well but I don't think that mylot is a great place to make money. It is too much time consuming. I think it is a good place to be though.

I am an independant housekeeper who is slowly but surely building a nice business. I work on-line to help pay for future business costs, but when I have to, I use the money to help pay immediate bills. My on-line income is a lot less than my off-line income right now, but I believe that at least part of that is due to me not realy applying myself on-line lately. I know that I can make quite a bit if I only apply myself and do what I need to do.

I work as a web researcher for a company based in Arlington, Virginia and so I am online most of the time. When I want to take a break from research, that is when I spend some time here in myLot to create and answer discussions.

I work at a Ritz Camera in South Florida and we are currently liquidating. So that essentially means I'm going to be losing my job in a couple of weeks.

19 Apr 09
I'm sorry to hear that. I hadn't even heard that Ritz Camera was going to be doing that, I know we have one in my area back at home and my grandma loves using it due to the fact she has old negatives and they are the only places that can reproduce the images for her. Do you know if actual stores are going to be shutting down soon?

I quit my job last week so mylot is my only form of income right now. However I don't think that 20c a day is going to get me very far so I'd better hury and find another job! Seriously though, before I quit my job I was a vet nurse and I enjoyed it very much. Mylot was simply a thrill on the side. I know we don't earn much here, but it's still exciting to get something for your thoughts! I love the buzz of logging in every day and seeing how much my earnings have gone up. Mostly I use my mylot earnings on a treat for myself like something from Ebay or a cd or something like that.
