Food Hang up

I usually love getting take out instead of cooking just recently at a Domino's Pizza these employees made a video and did some nasty things to the food and it was so disgusting I am sure this has been written about and is old news but I was just sent the video and it grossed me out as I have ordered from them before.Even though it wasn't at the place I get mine from, now I am really paranoid now about getting take out, while I know it was an isolated incident it makes me wonder what people do when they handle food.Never thought of it before now it's fresh in my mind and I am leery now...I am sure I'll be over it soon but does that make me be a bit mental by not wanting to ordering out?Just curious

I know what you mean....I seen it too on the news, and that seriously doesnt make me want to order from them or anywhere. I like to cook a home cooked meal for my family but there are days that the time just doesnt agree with me and we have to order out...and those days are very nice as well since its less clean up for me and less that I have to think about... but I have to say that story about what those employees did was so gross and really makes me want to cook more....LOL

I prefer to cook myself too so I hear you on that one, but when hubby and I both have hectic work schedules their isn't always time to cook! Especially with an almost 3 year old screaming because she's hungry! I agree the best part is no dishes or clean up after :)

Hello bookreadermom08,yes I only recently saw it and it just made me sick.I can't seem to get that out of my head and it made me gag.I think I will be cooking now for awhile, sometimes after a long day it's just easier to pick up the phone and order. And having a family it is nice to have a break and go out and eat.Yes I agree with you....cooking suddenly sounds more appealing..LOL.Thank you for responding, have a good one!

Hi hun I happen to be the same as you if ordering a take out, it has to be somewhere I know for sure that food hasn't been tampered with and is freshly cooked, fortunatley where I live the places I do get a take away from have been there ages and we have got to know each other, so they are genuine..anywhere else though I am careful of...LoLo

((((Hello LoLo)))) Yes I usually go out and get food. But as I moved places are further away and some days I prefer deliveries. When I get over this I am going to be more mindful of where I get food from now.I found the actions from those workers appalling and the manager wasn't even watching them which I found disturbing. It's just disgusting not too mention unhealthy,so now I will just be more careful in the future besides might be cheaper to just cook and prepare my own food least I know its safe.xxxxx

Hi Hun, I honestly have been paranoid for a while about getting food from somewhere. Usually we don't order out all that often, and if we do then we go out and it is a place we know all of the cooks at so as long as I don't tick them off I should be okay lol. Also a friend of mine works at the local pizza place so I make sure I order when she's working, then I know the food will be okay! I know which video your talking about, and yea it was pretty gross!

I agree that the supervisors and owners should be keeping a more watchful eye on their employees especially in something like a food industry. We hardly ever go out though so I'm not really too too worried about it!

(((HUGS)))I am glad I am not the only one.Yes I always say don't anger the waitstaff or servers as they have the power..lol....who knows what you get.I think when I go out to eat next time I will be more aware and careful.I think my reaction was over how gross the video was and it turned me off and made me wonder what do they do back there and the owners and managers should be watching more closely.Ahhh well...my stove has been rather lonely as of late...LOL

I think you are very confused about your dieting habit. You are eating same thing either you are eating in hotel or you take out this from the hotel.

Hiya nerrjpandey....Did you even read what I wrote? I am certainly not confused. The point of this dicussion is what these employees did to food they were serving. This has nothing to do with a personal diet, thanks for replying but next time actually READ before applying....Have a nice day!

No, I don't think you're being a bit mental. You're just being cautious, that's all. I haven't seen this video, myself, but I probably need to be more cautious. I like to eat out occasionally, myself. I live by myself and it gets boring eating at home alone. I've worked in fast food and I never did observe anybody doing anything they shouldn't but all employees of restaurants are supposed to wash their hands if they've been to the retrooms before returning to work. Thanks cyrus,I appreciate that.I sometimes wondered if I was over reacting but that video was so disgusting it made me really think.I am sticking with cooking for now and I agree it can get boring to always eat at home, you need variety. Most places are clean and highly respected, its just a shame when a few rotten apples ruin the whole bunch. Thanks for replying.

Hello lordwarwizard,The video was first seen on the news.Someone sent the video to me from you-tube.No the franchise is not located in my state. The video just grossed me out and made me wonder what goes on behind the scenes where food is prepped.I won't stop ordering food from establishments but I am going to be more mindful the next time I go out. Thanks for replying.

I feel exactly the same as you do about that subject, because years ago someone who worked with me had previously worked at a place where they packaged food and he had some hair-raising stories to tell about things that bored employees put in the food. It really grossed me out.

Hiya drannhh,I can only imagine the gross things he must have witnessed while being there.I should think there are other ways to relieve boredom then messing with food like that.Someone could get very ill from that and not know what caused it.I never really thought about it before till after I saw that video it made me wonder what the heck is in my food.I will be more careful from now on though.

I am not a fast food fan at all and won't be found very often at the sign of the Golden Arches and definitely not at Dominos. I have yet to have a pizza from them that was edible! I'd sooner make my own. KFC has run into trouble with the welfare of the chickens that it uses too. I much prefer small family restaurants to the big chain restaurants. At least you can see who is cooking your food and know that their local reputation means a whole lot more to them.

Hiya (((((p1ke1sh))))I agree I think restaurants are better choices to go with. The quailty of fastfood has gone down alot. And I am going to stick with restuarants with good reputations and open and clean kitchens!

Hi faery, i think that is really disgusting, people should respect food, there have been documentary on TV about what people do in these sort of places but not all of them do this, as for me I cook my own food everyday aa hubby don't like take-outs, but I do get fed up cooking everyday though so sometimes I like getting fish and chips from the shop, but I don't like pizza though. Love and hugs. Tamara xxxxx

(((((((Tamara)))))) Yes it is very gross and these people who do this will most likely spread illness and germs. And to laugh about it and not care is just wrong.Yes I think a balence of cooking at home and having a treat is the best way to go.Love and Light...Liaxxxxx

HI faeryoftheshire: I saw that on the news the other day and it really grossed me out, I don't get to eat out very often and I do like Domino's pizza but after seeing that I'm not sure I'll ever order from there again; Makes you wonder really what any of the them at any of these food places; BLEH!! very scary indeed!!!

(((((Hello dreamweaverjan)))) Yes me too!!!!I know what you mean I like Dominos,I don't know if I will either and yes after seeing that I have been skeptical and questioning all places I ate food from and who knows what could have been in it.I am sure it will pass but for now...I'll stick with cooking, lol!

Unfortunately that happens a lot more than we realize. I don't buy as much take out anymore, mainly because it is healthier to prepare food at home but when I do go out, I think about that sometimes.

Hiya lumenmom,I know and it is a scary thought.I find cooking at home now is cheaper and I know what I am actually eating. These realizations make you rethink, what you have been consuming when out.

I saw that video! it was insane... I love to cook. I enjoy home cooking more than buying take out and eating out. I don't find it mental really, of course it will be our natural reaction to such video. We could always imagine what they have done and what if (just what if) the one we are eating right out had been tampered like the way they did.

Hello chulasa, yes I know it really through me alot.Yes it's best outta sight out of mind,I have been cooking more now,but will still get take-out I am just more mindful now! Thanks for responding.

Im not a real dominoes fan, that being said what those employees did not only to there resturant but to the company in general is deporable. I sincerly hope that the authorities in there area arrest them and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. In addition I hope the company cival sues them for lost revenue because of there behavior. We all as consumers have an expectation that our food wont be tampered with. like you I now think twice before ordering out.

Well it's a classic situation that's been seen in movies and on TV for decades. There's a young person workig out the back of a fast food joint and a rude customer comes along and annoys one of the staff members. The guy out the back teaches the rude customer a lesson and spits in his/her food. It shouldn't happen and it's pretty disgusting to think about but I admit, I do get paranoid sometimes when I think about all of the burgers and fast food I have eaten. Sometimes I think 'surely one of my burgers has been spat in over the years' and it's pretty gross. I like eating from places where you can see the kitchen from the front counter. That gives me a little more confidence that I'm not getting dodgy food. You're not mental, no one wants tarnished food. Maybe just be more aware about how your food is made, like I said only go to places where you can see the kitchen from the front and perhaps look out for safety inspection certificates hanging on the walls as a good sign.

20 Apr 09
Hiya coffeeshot,Thanks I think that's what I will do when I go order food is do as you say and looking for certificates is something I hadn't thought of that's a good one.Yes I would feel much better in food environments where you have a great view of what goes on in the kitchen. My gag reflexs increased after seeing that but I'll get over it as I do like to order food I will just be more aware from now on.Thanks for repyling to my post.Take care,

I'm kinda paranoid about which take out place to eat at also.Luckily I have never been food poisoned*knock on wood*. But sometimes once or twice a week we order out at this Chinese take-out place that is locally family owned and they let their customers watch them stir fry their food and prepare it. It's reasonably priced and they always have a line of car's in the drive threw.I trust this place pretty much because they have such good food and a good reputation and have been open for years. We mostly cook at home but sometimes during the week we crave our Chinese take-out.I haven't had food from Domino's in years and now I never plan on eating at that place again after reading this discussion..LOL.. Oh, and another pizza place I will never eat at again is Papa John's pizza. YEARS ago a co-worker of mine ordered two of their pizza's and I only took one bite of it and it tasted nasty and I couldn't finish the rest and I had a feeling if I continued to eat that slice of pizza I would of got food poisoning- It tasted BAD! My co-worker ate 3 slices then told me his stomach was starting to hurt before we left work.( some guy's will eat anything!..LOL) If I want pizza I usually order from a locally owned Pizza place that has been open for years and yet again, they let the customers watch them make the pizza . It's actually better to prep food & eat at home but sometimes people in general don't always have time or want a break from cooking.

Hello cassandralynn, nor have I...I heard that it is very painful too,so I feel blessed I never had to go through that.I find eating out or ordering take out simple on days when I am too tired to prepare anything, mostly of late I have been ordering take out. There are alot of good resturants out there and it is good when you frequent one all the time, where you know the environment and the people so there is no problem.(I find the best Pizza I ever had was in New York.)Good thing you didn't eat too much of that.I think the next time I order out I will just be more mindful, for now I will just cook at home for awhile...till I get a hankering to go out again.

I have heard horror stories about restaraunts. THings that have even hospitalized others. I am cautios about eatingout, and do it very little, but I don't let those stories completely stop me from eating out. I think that the people who do those disgusting things should be punished by not only losing their jobs, but also bylegal means. They are the ones that give resstaurants a bad rap.

Hello lynnemg, yes the video just grossed me out so much and I know I will get over it.I will still go to resturants but am going to be more mindful of the Take-out places I go to.Yes I heard they were fired and I am sure those who got food from there will start filing lawsuits and the company is libel, and the manager should be keeping better tabs on their employers too.I agree with you, thanks for responding.

i actually have stayed away from pizza for a while been trying to cut back on fattening foods. i have heard others talk about this video. i have not seen it myself doesn't seem like something i would want to watch cause it will probably make people paranoid about what others would be doing to their food. we have a dominos about a block from where we live here as far as i know we never had any problems with our stuff but we do pick it up. it is the most convienent place to order from if we want to get take out pizza but the prices have gotten so high now we rarely get takeout pizza anymore.

19 Apr 09
((((Hi timhinyy)))Yes there pizza isn't the best but it was pretty good and I ordered from them alot. While I know it was one franchise the bug is now in my head about them as well as questioning what goes on in other places I go for food. Most places are good,it's just these unforunate events make you go... hmm?And Yes if you enjoy food and take out, don't watch it.This was sent to me in an email but it was on the news which I had missed. But for now I will just cook my own food less costly then eating out or ordering take out.
19 Apr 09
Hiya, I have got to admit to being very weary of a lot of these places. There is a local curry house near to me that has made someone very ill each and every week and I do wonder how it is still open but who knows. Because of stories like this I do not go to any takeout place apart from a chinese that is local to me where you can actually see into the kitchen and watch them prepare your food. Apart from that I always cook our food myself, so I know nothing disgusting has happened to it and we can live through each meal.

Hello moondance61,yes I have decided too cook my food for awhile as I know what I am getting. And if I go for take out food again...I will only go to places where I can see what is going on like you said there places have open kitchens so you can observe what's going on ,but I won't have anything delivered anymore now that I have seen that. Thanks for responding.

Hiya dragonman2001 and thanks.I know it found it very cringe worthy and ewwwww and it really turned me off to them.I heard they were fired and should be sued too.Especially if they gave that food to customers and laugh and think it's funny..to me that's nothing to be proud of and is so low class.
