Afraid of the dark

Are you afraid of the dark?
I think all of us went through that phase when we were younger, do you still have that fear now?
Why do you think you were afraid before? or still are?
When did you get over your fear of darkness? If not, why do you think you're still afraid of the dark?

I'm not afraid of the dark, unless I have reason to be. Sometimes when I'm alone - walking ot my car from my job's parking lot (which is really dark!) I'm a little frightened, just because it's not in a very good neighborhood. I do carry with me self-defense mechanisms (I have a huge safety pin on my key chain & mace as well), but still. You can never be too careful.
So, I guess I'm moreso afraid of getting ATTACKED in the dark rather than being afraid of the darkness itself.

I am still afraid of darkness when I see a horror movie. The horror scences always scares me a lot and make me scared of darkness.
When I was a kid, my bathroom was full of cockroaches and lizards. Although they were not scare but still I was very afraid of them and those were my only concern in my childhood.
