Today, my daughter and I went outside and planted our strawberry plants. Before we planted them, they were already beginning to produce buds. I really hope that I didn't plant them too soon, but I think that they will do quite well. When they plants begin to produce, I think that we will not only have plenty of frozen strawberries and such in our home, but we will also try to sell some of them to others. My question is, do you enjoy strawberries? If so, do you have plants in your yard or do you have to go buy them when you want them?

I have never liked strawberries, they are so sour. I do use frozen strawberries in the blender with milk but fresh strawberries are so full of grit and crunchy awful stuff! I would grow them if my mom were coming this summer but I think she'll spend the summer with my brother in the Southwest.

Have you ever tried adding just a touch of sugar to them? That makes them a lot sweeter.

No, sugar doesn't help. They have these nasty little hard things--I guess they are seeds--all over them and they are just as gross as can be!

Our plants are doing better now that I got the rabbits to stop eating them. I don't know if we will get any fruit this year or not. The berries that were on them got eaten by the rabbits. I am sorry that you cannot plant one of your own, I think that you would enjoy it too.

i like strawberry jam but i think i had a funny experience with the fruit when i was young. i think i thought the flavor was too strong. anyway, we buy that here in the philippines since it is only in baguio where one can plant that. i'm in batangas.

I think that you may enjoy making your own jam. My Mom always did. One year, she made so much that we actually got sick of it.
