Family Guy has gone too far this time

Never again will I watch Family Guy. Tonight's episode was just too much, when Peter killed the cat. I know his character is an idiot, but animal killing is never appropriate, especially for comedy. This is a new low for Seth McFarlane. I've tried to overlook, too, the bashing of the GOP, and his references to conservatives and Fox News as being like Hitler. This episode also had to do with legalizing pot. I know tomorrow is 4/20, and that's the day potsmokers celebrate pot, and wanting it to be legal. I was just shocked when Peter killed the cat. I thought before the episode of Stewie trying to kill Lois was bad. I just wish I'd said something then, and maybe this episode never would have aired. Oh well. I'm just glad I didn't have a child watching along with me.

Well Hello Fortunata, Thumbs up for you for your catch. Yes i was watching the family guy few hours ago and saw that scene which disturbed me like crazy. I just hated the stupid show. Even i know that it is just a stupid cartoon still it was annoying for me to show an animal is killed . As i said i totally agreed with you and i won't watch the show ever again! Have a wonderful day!

It's a good thing you don't watch South Park then lol. I happen to like Family Guy but I also am smart enough to know it's not a children's show. It is designed for adults, with adult humor. I don't think Seth is condoning murder of any kind, I think he's making some pretty bold social statements that need to be made, and hopefully those watching Family Guy will pick up on them. I've been involved in a few discussions over in Politics, and the recent stuff going on with the current things in the news, I'm glad for a bit of humor, dark at that, in Peter. My favorite character though is Stewie, and I honestly get such a kick out of him planning little things. I love all of the allusions to other movies such as The Omen, Star Wars, etc. It's wonderful. Again, I'd never let my children watch it, or South Park. Namaste-Anora

The problem is, kids do watch these shows. I have no problem with South Park, because it's on Comedy Central, and most of the time I can get the 'message' of their shows, but the cat killing scene was gratitious, and unnecessary. I think Seth wants out of his contract or he's busy with the spin off show. Something.

totally is the parents responsibility I actually stopped my children from spending nights with their grandma because she would ignore me when I told her that they weren't allowed to watch the show.

I would tend to agree with Anora on this one, the show is designed for adults. Is it not the parents responsibility to monitor their child's TV usage?

You're entitled to your opinion and I whole-heartedly respect that. I too, am entitled to my opinion; and it is this: I love that show! It is one of my favorites on TV. The show is not for everyone and you certainly don't have to watch if you don't want to; nobody is forcing you. I applaud Seth MacFarlane for pushing the envelope and the censors so much. After the whole "wardrobe malfunction" incident at the super bowl the FCC went crazy and became way too strict. I agree that this show is in no way for children, but that's up to the parents, not the networks or the show creators. They've killed other animals and people on the show, but there were no complaints then. The Family Guy and other shows like it become an easy target for outrage. In closing, I mean no offense to anyone. I'm not trying to demean your opinions in any way. If I did, I apologize.

Thank you, brandon22, I respect your opinion, and you did it in such a nice way. At least you didn't say I had a 'stick up my a**' like somebody else did. Thanks!

aww..i like that show but i do understand that most of it is inappropriate even though its pose to be comedy and probably too much for tv sometimes especially since it is viewed mostly by teenagers

I seriously hate that show.. How one can sit down and watch it is beyond me. I only used to watch because i liked the voice of stewie but then it just got seriously boring and it seems that its more of an insult show rather than an entertainment show. Sad today that all these tv programs have to use profanity just to get their ratings up.. I miss the good old days when TV was suitable for everyone...

well, i dont support animal killing unless its for my stomach. I have nothing against Family Guy because they've pretty much made fun of every culture, religion, or any other political issues. I think knowing the consequences of watching the show, you have an option to not watch...which you said that you will never watch again. If people are stupid enough to go out and do what they see on TV then they need help regardless of watching Family Guy or any other show. Also parents should be monitoring everything their kids watch. We all know that Family Guy isn't your normal family cartoon show so therefore young kids shouldn't be watching. Some other similar cartoon shows for adults i like are, Boondocks, Simpsons, Beavis and Butthead, and Robot Chicken

I was at work when it aired thank goodness. On the down side of me being @ work that means hubby was probably watching it with the kids to my dismay. If it's higher than pg & we haven't seen it before it's NOT APPROPRIATE for our kids (oldest is 6 btw)!!!! However, I don't care for the show. I hate to say it but those who critisized South Park... I think FG is OVER THE TOP! I'm even more shocked that this nasty show is even on during prime time when kids are still up.

I've never liked that show but I don't like adult cartoons in general. It's a shame a lot of people let their children watch that crap. So I haven't seen the show since my husband left, he loved it and I watched it just to be with him. There's nothing they won't do for laugh and I do believe they are trying to corrupt the country--not just this cartoon but adult cartoons in general.

I just watched this episode last night. I am an animal lover, I have three cats and two dogs, was I offended ? No. Humour is very subjective. You can kill and abuse any human being but don't you dare touch the animals

So you thought Family Guy went over the line? So what! It is just a tv show! i love the show! I don't take it seriously! It is make believe! Get over it! If you stop watching it, I will continue to! One thing does bother me is that so many parents have never seen the show or have and let their kids watch it! It is an adult comedy and kids under 14 shouldn't be,watching it! Parents should be montoring what their kids watch! Like watching the program to see if it is suiteable for kids or not! Seth McFarlene isn't the problem! It is the parents! this is my opinions!

Family Guy should be on a premium channel, like HBO or Showtime. It shouldn't be on regular tv, where kids can see it. Adult stuff should be on adult channels.

It is one of the worst shows that I have seen. First time I watched it, had the boys with me. Not really knowing what is was about. After realizing that this is in no way a family related show, we don't watch it. It comes on around 7 at night when kids are watching TV, if the networks want to put it on it needs to be much later at night.

I have never been a fan of this show and this sounds like they are getting even worse. I did used to watch it and think that so much of it really is funny, like the monkey that lives in the sons closet...so funny. Comes out and they play "slowride". I have however, been really offended by some of the stuff. I stopped watching it about a year ago because it was starting to push the edge too much on things that are just not funny. I mainly stopped watching because they were on this kick where they made fun of handicapped people. My dad was was blind, deaf and could not walk due to diabetes and found this alarming. I try to not take things too seriously and laugh when I can, but the manner was WRONG. i cannot even remember what it was, but I automatically turned it and always flipped when it came on. A lot of shows that use shock factor has gone too far in my opinion.

Guillermo Vargas Habacuc is the name of this so-called artist who took an abandoned dog from the streets and tied it up next to a wall (not a pole, my mistake) with a short rope. On the far side of the room he left a little bit of food, obviously the dog could not reach it and was left to slowly die from hunger and thirst in the name of art. As little reasonable as one may be I'm sure anyone will find this subject to be considerably worthier of attention.

That's disgusting! How can starving an animal be art? Some of these so called artists will do anything to get grants for doing horrible things like this! Thank you for telling me about this.

I'll begin by just saying that I'm sick of people like you. Why don't you hypocrites express your discomfort in the same manner and activity when the physical and psychological violence is performed against humans? Killing is killing, whether it's a cat or another human. Furthermore, no one is forcing you to watch Family Guy. If you can't handle the critic(s) it brings forward then I suggest you change the channel. There are millions of people dying unnaturally out there, lets see you do the humane thing.

Personally I do agree that this show can be a little crazy at times, and it makes you wonder how this show continues to last so long. Almost reminds me a little of South Park, and their ways to do things. And personally I cannot really imagine too many people with kids allowing them to watch this show as well. But I guess it is a matter of personal opinion.

I have never liked that show and will never let my child watch it. Their is so much trash on TV these days. Hardly ever anything on that a family can watch together.

Firstly, I respect your opinions. I too believe animal killing is definitely overboard. But you must keep in mind that one, it was animated completely, and nothing real actually happened. Two, Family Guy is a show nearly completely based on racial or controversial topics. Without these, they would have no fanbase and no ideas. Every episode, there is bound to be people offended. I am offended my many things, but I have learned to take the topics this show covers and instead of being offended, just understand that they are merely trying to be funny. As a result, I do actually laugh at this show.

I agree with you. Thumbs up. Sometimes family guy takes their jokes to far and this is not good for our child. In my opinion, the simpsons is way better.
