I am almost 57 years old but it will be my first travel outside my country, and I am traveling alone. I keep wondering how does local travel differ from travelling abroad?

I wish you have someone with you to enjoy the trip. It feels better when you're with someone to spend your whole trip and enjoy the scenery together. But I hope you would still enjoy your travel. Have a happy trip! happy mylotting.

I had hoped to travel with my sister on their way back after their vacation from the USA where I will be going. But our schedules wouldn't jibe and we both need to be at certain places at definite dates. My husband will be going 40 days later because he needs to finish s project first (a manufacturing plant which is due to be completed in June). Anyway I vowed to myself that I will make the most out of this trip. Thanks for your post.

It is excellent that you are going to travel outside your country. My aunt is older than you and sadly she has never been abroad. She just doesn't want to which I think is a shame. Local travel will involve weather that a traveler is used to. He or she will be able to speak the language and eat the same sort of food. The transport system will be familiar. Traveling abroad and what that is like depends on the country that the traveler goes to. If he or she comes from Italy they might find a country like Greece fairly similar. If he or she comes from Chile and visits Spain the language Spanish is shared. If he or she comes from Finland they might find Indonesia very different from home, the weather, the language, the food and the buildings. In Switzerland the transport runs on time but in Samoa the timetable is relaxed. I used to travel a lot on my own and it was great. Now I have visited 52 different countries. Which country will you visit? Happy traveling.

Wow, all 52 countries? Have you visited the Philippines? It's where I live, my native country, and I will be going to California, USA. Language may not be a problem. I am anxious about how they treat foreigners, specially Asians, like me. Anyway in case you'd be in the Philippines I'd be glad to show you around our city.

The different are surely the language and lifestyle. Plus you are traveling alone, so you need to be extra careful..So where will you be going? I'm sure you are excited to travel since this is your first time. Have a great traveling.
