Before answering, please read the article in its entirity.
The above article was on Comcast News tonight on the web, and is about the 271 million pounds of pharmaceuticals that have been dumped into American waterways. It's really quite scary when you think about what may be in our water supplies. I started using filters awhile back after having read Dr. Weil's book, but this article really made me glad for that decision.
Having had some other discussions tonight regarding various health issues, I'm wondering if perhaps this could be the reason we're seeing an increase in certain diseases and disorders in this country? What do you think?

You would be surprised how much gets into our waterways simply by us going to the bathroom. Apparently it is impossible to filter out hormones in birth control, which could explain alot...

Thanks for responding. Though that is part of it, it's not all of it. There seems to be more coming straight from the plants, then from our bathroom time. I agree though, hormones could explain quite a few things. Speaking of that, it's why I buy meats that aren't injected either.

This is really astonishing on how much is getting into our water supply!
I also have been using a water treatment system for drinking and cooking and I am glad I do.
This does highlight a significant problemn although the pharmaceutical manufacturers and FDA and EPA seem to think that this amout is 'acceptable'.
I think you may be right that, while it is not the one single reason, it is contributes to the problem.

Celtic-
Thanks for responding. Yeah, I definately don't think there is any one answer for our issues today, but it definately is something to be looking at. I started using a filter after reading a book called 8 weeks to Optimumn health.
I really am a bit bothered though by this report in that as you said the FDA and EPA seem to be playing it off. I mean, how can there be any acceptable level?
