We always try to convince ourselves of the small vices we like and find some excuses to cheat ourselves.

One will always convince oneself to approve one's vices, as he cannot see his vices as others will view it.

Like mylotting when i could have been doing something to spruce up my room a little bit. It gets quite addicting does it not ? Or lazing around and sleeping when i know i could do something more productive. Not a vice actually, but ...

Will power is the answer to that, my friend. If you know you're cheating yourself, then there are ways to stop doing so. I think it's better to be true to yourself, as well as to others. Brightest Blessings.

yes, after every mistake I try to make me convinced that I am right. While I was a kid i stole a hand video game from my cousin when she was sleeping, the reason was that her brothers didn't give it to me when I wanted to have a look on it and beat me for no reasons. So, I stole that from her and was trying to convince my self that I did it for only one reason and that was to see her brother feel the pain for their sister. Later, I could stand the guilty and returned the game to her.

Oh yes..for as long as I have remembered. I think of things and think of why I can't do them instead of why I can. I have in the past few years started being more brave with my desires.Painting..writing...doing things I want to do. people have hindered me more than myself..they plant the seed of doubt and then I grow it. I have am freeing myself of that though...working towards it anyway..lol. I think we should give ourselves more credit than we do.

For me I think that small vices we have guilt can play a major part in us trying to excuse ourselves or to try and avoid the vices, the more we try to avoid the more we feel that we are cheating ourselves by trying not to do them, everyone has vices and I believe it's all about moderation! Cessation of a vice doesn't help us it makes us more depressed, of course it depends on the vice and the person as to whether they feel shame about it LOL!

Hullo Bala! How are you? When is the visit to SRGM--? you had written earlier that you would be there in May, and it would approximately be during Chithra car festival;I do not know the date but it may be. Coming to the topic--I have cheated myself about some qualities of mine Bala but not vices really--the quality I am talking about is not a vice in the strictest of terms--. But about vices--I am very aware of them but I would say'I am like that ;I CANNOT HELP it'--for example postponing some things that would have an effect on myself and no one else- I would have some pending work and won't do it--I would still read a book -as long as it does not affect anyone it should not matter. When it is a matter of having an adverse effect on others I would try and rectify it because I won't like it. To sum it up I would not cheat myself about any vice to the extent of jeopardising my duties, be it to others or self.

I cheat myself by letting myself get away with not doing things I don't want to when I should, or perhps as well as I should. I tell myself I'll go back to it, but I know it's a lie as I say it.

I cheat myself whenever I refuse to give something new a try because I am afraid of failure and not doing it perfectly. Whenever I sit on the sidelines watching and wishing I was not too afraid to try I am definitely cheating myself. I cheat myself whenever I close my heart to love and kindness and I cheat myself whenever I don't extend a hand to someone who needs it.
