I think I have some but not sure, something popped up from Microsoft telling me I have Viruses and to downlad this one program, then down at the bottom of the page it said don't download it, it keeps popping up. so I just deleted it, My grand children was downloading a lot of stuff on my computer, That why I don't like my Grands to get on Computer, because everytime, my computer just start acting very weird. And I know that I have some Virues, I guess I will wait and Let my Avast scan my Computer, and It will be ok, I think?

The thing is, it is much better to sort the problem out ourselves than to hire expensive experts.

I caught a virus 2 years ago from my system. That means I am free from viruses since two years. Do you know how? I switched to Linux. Everybody knows that Linux is virus free and therefore it provides a safe and secure environment for computing. For my friends, I suggest Linux Operating system as it has become more user friendly than before. Moreover, you can run both Microsoft Windows as well as GNU/Linux on the same PC without any problem so that you can fulfill your needs and at the same time, you can have a virus free computing also.

You said you use to have the AVG Anti Virus run every night, is there a reason that you don't still have it?

I used to get that window popping up all the time... it's a virus my friend. Don't touch it! Mine disappeared eventually but I don't know whether it was down to my security or what. However, I'm happy to see it gone! lol. Brightest Blessings, my friend.

Hi honey, Thankfully no. I didn't get any virus, not any that I am aware of. Why would you get popup messages from Microsoft concerning viruses anyway? Unless you are talking about the Windows update malware scan, then Microsoft doesn't have a virus scanner! I would suggest you fire up your anti-virus program, update to the latest virus definitions and run a scan. Then, you can be more sure if you have any virus in your computer and the anti-virus program might possibly be able to help you kill the viruses if any. I suspect what you encounter it from surfing some malicious websites showing banners that hope to deceive you into downloading viruses (instead of genuinely removing them). So... try the scan like I suggested above.

I just got my computer repaired from the service centre and i always have my antivirus updated So i don't have any virus till now.We cannot when the virus will attack the computer. It can come even through infected sites. We should have the antivirus guard on to detect viruses when we surf harmful sites.

I got a virus on my computer a few months ago; www.ziddu.com, one of those pages that pays the users every time others download the files the user have uploaded was hacked. I was active in this website, visit it and got a virus. My computer started acting weird too and it was running extremely slow. And if this weren´t bad enough, my antivirus, Panda Internet Security 2008, was one the worsts I´ve ever seen. It took me a month to understand where the problem was and finally I had to format the hard drive. It was terrible! Be careful the websites you visit.

Yes I know that problem has haapen to me alot, everytime My grandchildren gets on my computer, downloading different things a get all kinds of Virus, they think I am being funny for not letting the get on my Computer much, because they do screw it up bad. I always have to scan everything when they get off my computer. Thanks for you input, yo are right you do have to watch what websites you go to. you never know if you will get a Virus or not. When you computer runs slow, best to beleve you definely have a Virus. I have taught myself alot working on my computer I also watch my Computer Guy do somethings when he comes out to my house. He makes a living fixing computers. Have a great day!

The programs I have are eset nod 32 internet security, and spybot search and destroy. The best thing is to do is ignore the pop ups that say that a person downloads some program, as this will require extra money paid on a program that makes the problem worse. The way to get rid of the viruses is use a reputable program in safe mode.

I hesitate to answer this but I am very careful about my computer. It is not connected to a large network and like most people I don't use floppy discs anymore so the risk is low.

I have no grands, marcia, but my kids manage to tangle up my computers quite often. I just got a laptop at Christmas and it is lock up tighter than a drum with some fierce virus. I generally use my desktop while my 17 & 20 yr old kids use the laptop. I told them I am not paying to have this one fixed; this is a recurring problem that pops up about every 3 to 6 months. I spent enough last year repairing computers to have purchased a new system. This time the kids are on their own, the bank of mom is closed. LOL!

This happened to my mum on her computer not so long ago. She had a message from microsoft saying the same thing but she did not have an anti virus and so downloaded it and it was a virus and infected her computer. It cost her a lot of money to have it all sorted out as well.

Hi there Marcia Scott. I have had some recent pests - a rather nasty malware that was changing my search engine (in the top right of Firefox) that wouldn't go out easily, but i managed to kick it out and now i am back to my good old antivirus that kept me safe for the last 3 years - i was trying symantec for a change, as it was recommended to my by a good friend, but since i wasn't satisfied, i returned to my previous one.

Downloading something from the internet is really risky specially if you don't know that someone is downloading something from the net without your knowledge. I think I also have some in my computer I just scan it later. My computer has been running a little slow so there might be some virus in its system.

A Newscaster on t.V. said that years ago, always delete cookes, I don't know hpw true it is, but I do that sometimes, and if you have other windows open that makes your computer slow too. Thanks for input have a nice weekend!

I don’t get a lot of virus threats on my computer, I also don’t have a antivirus protection program right no w either so it’s probably a good thing. Tell your grandkids not to download anything when they get on your computer or they may not have one to get on soon. You might want to look at cleaning it out and getting a bunch of stuff you don’t use off of it. I bet there’s a lot of stuff that is slowing it down.
