My husband is using a patch

Thank goodness! I swear we've been on the brink of divorce lately.
We both quit smoking 3 weeks ago. I've done well, I am overly stressed sometimes, but I've not yet gone for a smoke, and I at least recognize when I'm getting too stressed and I find a way to calm myself or ask for help.
My husband on the other hand... he doesn't recognize when he's going overboard. He has gone to smoke when he's gotten too stressed, but he won't smoke at home, only at work. When he is home and gets too stressed, he just keeps going and going until neither of us can take it anymore and one of us takes off.
When we finally calmed down I told him he needed to go see a doctor and get something to help. So today one of his co-wokers gave him a bunch of patches.
Hubby just called a little while ago while wearing a patch. He'd just had a problem with one of his other co-workers and felt like he could hurt her, so he slapped on one of these patches. He said it worked very well, and when he called me he was calm as could be.
Hopefully he will eventually not need the patch any longer!
Have you ever needed to use the patch to help quit smoking? At what point were you able to stop using the patch? Do you know someone who quit cold turkey who was unbearable?

The patches are pretty good I have used them before, they take the craving away for a good while. They are supposed to be 24 hours, but I think that the strength does wear off after a few hours. The only problem I found with the patches was that I became pretty down while using them and also they gave me bad nightmares which is one of the effects of them and broken sleep. If someone is using patches they are supposed to be used daily for a certain amount of time and then after a few weeks of using one strength you change to a lower strength patch. I would think that if he can use them to help him through then he should.

He won't use them as directed. He wore one for a few hours yesterday, but has not worn one today. I think he'll need one at work sometimes, but he'll only use them when he really feels the need. Once they're gone, he'll just have to deal with it. Hopefully by then he won't have any more problems.

I am so glad that he got patches. Nocotine withdrawel is horrible and much worse than people could imagine. The patches will help him enormously and he should use all of them. I just wish that you could get some too to help you. Are they that expensive in the USA? They are out here but I know some people who have used them successfully. Keep it up and don't stop. It will get better week by week.

I went cold turkey and didn't have too much problem, aside from stress. I just don't think hubby is truly 100% ready, which is why it's so hard on him. He's not fighting off the stress as well as I am.
www.whyquit.com is the site that helped me quit. Let your brother know about it.

Nothing will work unless you really want it to, and if you really want to quit, cold turkey is really the best way to go. Check out whyquit.com.
