It seems like every art form,in photography too ,you need some inherent quality to master the art. I have clicked many but frankly I am not a good photographer. I consider that I don't have that aesthetic appreciation in me to be a good photographer. What about you people ?? How good do you consider yourself in Photography ??

I'm OK. My picyures are currently featured on the front page of photoartgallery.com which is the 15th time they have been selected for that honour in recent months. Two things: everyone can take a good photo sometimes, you included; and if you can recognise a good picture, then with a little knowledge, you can take better pictures with increasing consistency by reproducing whatever it was about those pictures you like. The second thing: you asked MyLotters how good we are. Modesty aside, and vanity, too, it is better to let others judge our work, if we really want to know if we are any good. You will find a sample of my work at www.davidrichphotography.org ~ now I've shown you mine, how about you show me yours? Perhaps a short critique might get you on the road to photo-excellence.

Yes, I'm good at photography, but I didn't automatically know how to take good images. I joined a camera club, looked through photography books, and read books on technique. But just like learning to drive a car, learning a new job, becoming a parent, or any number of new experiences, you have to practice. Too many people want shortcuts. Take the time to look through photographs in magazines, newspapers or online and study the ones that catch your interest. If you stopped to look at a photo for a few seconds longer, ask yourself why. Don't take snapshots - make your photograph. Pretend you've got a blank canvas and you're going to draw something. It's important to know what to include in your photograph, but also important to know what to leave out. Too many people try to include everything in a scene. I've been serious about photography for 20 years, but I still look for new ideas and techniques. If you're passionate about something, you never stop learning. I started a blog to show some of my photos http://from-texas-to-tennessee.blogspot.com/ This is my fifth day on MyLot and so far I have 35 points. Once I reach 500 points, I can submit photographs here.

My dog - Image of my dog one day. The shot was just perfect.
I think I am good with the camera. I have taken a lot of pictures that were good and I am submitting to different contests. I love photography and try to enhance my skills whenever I get the chance.

i think i have answer the same question before. am i good? just look my friend at my images at dA (roommyt.deviantart.com). all i'm saying here is that i am not a master or i don't have an idea if it is good but the thing is it's all about capturing a moment and preserve it. i believe that when it comes to visual arts it's not about being a master but connecting to the people through you images. it's how you talk to people through photography. and every time you see their expression that is something that makes the difference.

I am not good at photography. I have seen pictures taken by me, they are satisfactory but not good. There are many persons around me who can take very good pictures. What I think photography is an art and it requires talent and some focus to accomplish the job. I am not that good, also my hands shake many times i try to take a photo. You seem to belong to my league of extra-ordinary photographers, udit.lol

i bought myself a dslr bout 6 months ago. i have always been in awe at people takin' their time and puttin' in effort to get a perfect shot. always wanted to look like a pro...even if i wasn't! hehe unfortunately i have not had the chance to practice with my nikki, thats the name of my nikon d60. :p but when i do take her out, i notice that there are plenty of shots to be taken in ways that you never thought of with a normal digi. i reckon with practice, everyone can take good photos. i've improved since the first day i got nikki. still a lot more to improve on but as the sayin' goes, slowly but surely, yeah? :)

I think that photography skill can be learned. For some people it just comes naturally. But if it doesn't come naturally for you, you can work to improve. The first step is to practice. Practice, practice, practice! The more photos you take, the better you will get! The second step is to learn the rules of composition. Learn the rule of thirds, study color composition, that sort of stuff. Before taking each photo, take the time to really compose your shot. Work on off-center framing, straight horizon lines, and look at the edges of your photo to make sure there's nothing partially in the frame. And once you've learned the rules of composition and have those down pat, you can play around with intentionally breaking the rules!

I do own a digital camera at this time however I am not really sure how my photography capabilities are where being a master or professional are. I know that there have been times in my past where I have entertained the thought of getting into photography. I have seen some beautiful pictures that people have taken and I believe that there is a certain trick or strategy to it. It seems that the best pictures taken are the ones that catch either people off guard or maybe some beautiful scenery they captured in their passing. There have been some vacations I have been on where I noticed beautiful landscape or other types of scenery. Sometimes I can get a picture of something at a good angle and other times the photo doesn't even come out crisp at all. Being a great photographer is something of a great gift that I wish I had but I guess it doesn't hurt to practice. I know that I like exotic types of birds and they would be such a great picture if I could only get up close and personal enough!
