Do you know how many books you've read?

Recently I had this bizarre idea to try counting all of the books I've read in my lifetime (Which is only about 18 years... so my life's not all that long at the moment). I wound up with 215 books that I could remember. I've probably read more but have since forgotten a lot of them. I'm not counting the children's books or really short chapter books I read in elementary school. So do you have any idea how many books you've read in your lifetime? (Oh yeah... and I'm not planning on stopping anytime soon.)

OK, starting from say age 11, between 10,000 and 11,000. I read at least 4 books a week, sometimes many more, and for brief periods of my life, somewhat less, but that would be a fair estimated average. Lash

That's a rather large number. You inspire me!

I've been an avid reader all of my life, and since I'm now 57 years old, I presume I've read thousands of books during my lifetime. I was also a Kindergarten teacher, so I've read thousands of children's books to my classes. I read every day and usually get through 1-2 books per week. My mother, who is retired, reads at least a book every day. She's a fast reader and has a lot of time on her hands. I couldn't even begin to guess how many books she's read.

Thousands of books is my goal. I read about 1-2 books a week as well.

That is awesome that you are able to come up with that number. I wish I knew that number for myself. I'm in my forties now.... so, yeah, um I won't be able to figure it out. But it would be nice if I could. For about 20 years now I have been keeping a journal in which I record everything I read during the year. I love looking back over the lists.

I've been a huge reader pretty much all my life and I'm almost 30 so I would guess I'm probably up near a thousand books for my lifetime. In the past few years I've made a list of all the books I've read in that year. I average about 60 books a year or so, depending of course on what happened that year. I don't think I'll get as much reading in this year as I just had a baby but we'll see. Keep reading!

I have so many books that I really can't tell you how many books that I've read. Way to many to count and to keep track. I have no plans of no longer reading. I plan on reading books for the rest of my life. My teens really was easy, and I'm not sure where I'd be, if I wasn't able to read, and escape in the worlds that books have to offer. I'm really glad that I have the opportunity to read, and have books. They have been not only an escape, but also a form of therapy.
