Wow! I couldn't imagine living without YouTube. I watch a lot of music videos & even just funny/silly videos on it - and I guess I take it for granted. I live in the US, and no, YouTube is definitely NOT banned here. I've heard that it's banned in Pakistan, though. I think banning it is an extreme form of censorship, and it's not right for the Chinese government (or ANY government, for that matter) to censor what we see on the internet (so long as it's not illegal!)

Instead of downloading music, I usually go strait to youtube and listen to songs. If I like it, I'll usually go out and buy the albums.

yeah, maezee! Chinese government always want to censor what the people see or hear, no matter they are CPC or other rulers. its part of Chinese culture. although i like to watch music videos or match videos on youtube.com and disapprove of banning it, i have to say certain videos on it are really disgusting. it have been used by some peole as a tool to fight against CPC or even the whole Chinese. so i think this is the main reason why CPC block it.

In fact I learned this few weeks ago. At that time a foreign friend gave me a link of Youtube, it is about a video of a cellphone. But he said I might not be able to see it because Youtube was blocked in my country. At that time I was surprised to hear that as in the past I could visit Youtube without problems. I even uploaded several of my home videos to this website. I tried it and it's true. It is blocked because the sensitive issues concerning Tibet or Xinjiang. I don't agree our government has to block some websites. I think people have their own minds and judge which is right or wrong. If you block something, it seems that you are afraid of it. And if you are afraid of it, then I can wonder whether you have really done something wrong. I love China

hi,youless! i also disapprove of banning youtube.com, but as u know, there are certain videos on it that will mislead some people especially young teenagers or anyone who can't judge which is right or wrong. in my opinion youtube.com will take some actions to check some contents.

Nope, people here in Philippines are in fact crazy of YouTube. Maybe you should try using a proxy to hide it if in case you're in China. They're a communist country so i guess we really can't blame the government. But seriously, YouTube is fun and most of the time informative. I think there are other sites which are similar to YouTube so maybe they can access those sites.

No, Youtube is not forbidden in my country, but I live in the home of the free and the land of the brave, or most commonly known as The United States of America. I find it very interesting that youtube is not allowed in China, I wonder why that is? Why do you think that it is forbidden in your country, are there too many bad things that may have an effect on your culture? I was watching MXC on youtube just a minute ago, which either originates from Japan, or your country China. Im sorry to hear that that specific internet site is banned.

Thankfully, no it's not banned where I live (in the United States). I imagine that if even just the thought of something passing that would require the banning of the site, a lot of people would be very angry. I imagine there would be a lot of anger over the attack on free speech or something along those lines. I'd definitely would be one of the angry people, that's for sure.

Because I live in Canada, not many websites are blocked up here. Youtube is thankfully not blocked. Why is it blocked there anyway? Did they just recently block it?

hi,tman555! youtube.com is available in mainland China before and they just recently block it. i don't know why. maybe it has something to do with the Tibet incidents. they have ever banned youtube.com before but they will unblock it very soon.
