Ciao has responded to my query about membership and payment

I've been reading a lot of posts about some Ciao.com members who recently cannot access their accounts. I think the rumors are true: they have banned some countries from contributing because of offenders coming from those countries, which also unfortunately affected honest members. I have emailed their administration and received a reply from Kaitlin Pike, their community manager. Here is the letter: "We've unfortunately had to restrict our membership in order to clean up the site and increase the quality of reviews. Although many great members came from the now-banned regions, we weighed the cost against the benefits and found that we needed to focus the site's reach. "I have made a payment request for you; you will receive your last payment on or about May 15. Thank you." So even if I can't log in anymore, Kaitlin said I can still get my payment for the past month. My advise to Ciao members whose accounts have been blocked is to request your payment by emailing the site administrators. Let's hope we do get our payments.:)

Thanks for posting this discussion here. Although I was not concerned about receiving my payment as my country does not seem to have been banned from Ciao - your pasting of the message you received will at least put many people's mind at easy - as long as there was no form of cheating going on with their account, they should receive their payment in due course. If you have been advised you will receive payment then at least you can be sure you will receive it :)

Yes, and I just received my payment from Ciao. You're lucky you are part of the countries who can still access their site. I kinda miss posting at Ciao...

Just an update: I checked my Paypal account and saw that Ciao has already transferred the payment to my account. So there's a chance you might be receiving yours within a couple of days. Have they responded to your email already?

That is so sad when good honest people have to suffer because of offenders who have to destroy the good nature of what the site is trying to do. It is not just for Ciao. It is for other sites that this happens to.

Yes, it's really unfortunate, especially for members who write honest reviews in Ciao. I really don't get why some people would go as far as to violate simple rules such as those against spamming and cheating. Tsk.

Hi Sis, I also emailed them just about last two weeks ago. Because before we are banned from ciao, I already made a payment request last March, but until now I haven't get any payment thru my paypal account. I only received an email from their electronic message. Then I try using a different proxy then I eventually log in to ciao again, but it don't have any help, coz the button for the request payment and other choices are not taking effect. Wishing for ciao to respond my querry also. Thanks.
