Here in my country India, the charges for Cell phone usage is decided on the basis of location. If using in a big and city/state, one has to pay more as compared to using it in a small or cheaper city/state. Service providers often come up with offers providing free text messages to lure their customers. I have used such services of unlimited texting for a specific amount of time. Apart from free texting, the charges for texting is not too high either. It varies between US $0.005 to $0.02

Now a days various web portals are providing free messages as well, and people can even access them through their mobile phones. This has even challenged the charges of the messaging service by the cellular operator! Great for consumers

hello jhelai yes i agree with you that texting is the cheapest way to simply talk to any-one on the phone with out hearing their voices. but trouble is you have no idea who you really text except that i you have seen him/her personally. well, i used to enjoy it before my phone went broke

well we have different views on what to use my friend and thanks for sharing. though you are right. it is still so very good and much more convenient if we just have to call the person we are planning to communicate. than just texting it all out. it would be a waste of time as well. thanks friend jhelai

Hello, Yes of course, texting is well known around the world. I prefer texting actually over calling people because its the cheapest way for us to communicate. I like it because it is a simple 30-60 second process too. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

Well I have lived abroad for the last 8 years and here in Asia it has always been a flat phone fee. So it unlimited. But then again cell phones are much more advanced over here than back home. Everybody texts.
