I was taught how to type fast in a typewriter when I was in high school. My speed in typing is 45 words per minute. How fast do you type?

Oh yeah, I thought I was so good with my speed. But, there are some who type more faster than me. There are some people here who can type with the speed of 80-100 words per minute. I was amused with their speed. I want to achieve that speed too someday. I hope we both can do the same way in the future.

I am very poor at typing. Though I had training in my school days, as I had log gap form typing ,my speed went down as like the beginners.Still I will not use the proper fingers for typing and sometime I will type with single finger even. After registering with mylot only I started typing again after 7 or 8 years. So my speed will always low that we can not measure even,.

I believe that practice will make you add up some speed to your typing skill. I was so very slow when I first encounter a typewriter. It was even hard to type in a typewriter rather than a computer keyboard. Just keep on practicing your fingers and you will have the speed you want to achieve. Good luck my friend.

For me, it really depends on what I'm typing. If I am typing something very familiar ie. some common words, I can possibly reach a rate of about 85-90 words per minute. If I am typing something that is not familiar ie. words that I might not have come across, then maybe I can even dip as low as 30 words per minute. I remember playing this application on Facebook where it actually measures the speed of your typing based on a phrase that you are supposed to type out without any mistakes, even with the punctuation. They simulate it into a car racing-type application to make it more interesting. Not sure if you've come across that application, but for me, that application helped me slightly to improve my typing speed. Can't remember the name of the application now though, because it's been a while since I've used that application......

That sounds interesting to me. I want to increase my typing skills. I hope I can come across that application you are talking about. I am sure that it will be a big help for me and other frequent users of a computer. Thank you for your comment here in my querry.

I went on a job interview yesterday since i am currently unemployed and i had a typing test to do for them. I typed 60 word per minute and they said that is very fast and very good. I like to type fast becaue i can get a lot more done and i can type away and earn some earnings here in mylot. I can type 60 words a minute and that means i can type more in one discussions to earn a good earnings for the response i am typing. It also means on mylot that i have time for more responses to type and i do like that because i need to make payout and i still need 3.50 to earn that so I'm hoping i can get to it and earn the payout.

I have never calculated my typing speed but I lack behind a bit because I can not remember the order of keys on the keyboard and thus I need to look up at the keyboard when ever I am typing. But I will certainly install typing tutor and try to learn up a bit because I want to respond to discussions really fast to maximize my earnings here. I have never typed on the typewriter but I will like to try it out some day.

I remember the times when I was in high school. My teacher would punish us whenever we look at the keyboards of the typewriter. It was a good practice for us. I still look at the keyboard from time to time. Especially when I mistyped a letter. It was so hard at first but when I get used to it I feel like an expert. I wish you good luck on your studies on typing.

That is an amazing speed and you really are skilled in typing without looking at the keyboard. I don't look at the keyboard too when I am typing but I don't have the speed you acquired through constant practice.

Wow! That’s definitely very fast. I also learned typing in a school but now I am not sure about my speed. You see there is a vast difference between the speed we had on the old typewriters and what we have on the keyboard. For one, you don’t have to be careful about mistakes and capitalization and punctuation and secondly the keyboard is much smoother too. So even if I type fast on the keyboard, I don’t think I would be too fast on the typewriter anymore.

I'm afraid to say that I type slow. I tried to learn when I was younger, but I just didn't have the patience! Oh well, no need for me to worry about it as typing quickly isn't required in my line of work.

You are very lucky that your line of work need not have someone who have the typing skill. I hope you can practice typing with your computer keyboard. I learned typing when I was in high school and it was so difficult for me that time. Some of my classmates can type without looking at the keyboard. Which I don't possess. But now I am practicing what I have learned from my typing school back in high school.

The last time I was tested, I typed 73 nwpm. I was testing out of Keyboarding 1 & 2 for my new school. I knew I could type pretty fast, but I thought my speed would be more like 55-60. I shocked even myself when I read that score. Now the IT department head is pushing for me to get an administrative job through the school itself, since he likes my work.

That was awesome. You even have a job request for a company. I am very happy for you. I hope someday I will have that speed too. Thank you for your comment and I will add you to my list of friends. I like people like you who can be good at things they don't expect to be good at. Good luck to you my friend.

I am anywhere between 50 - 80 per minute. Depends on what I am typing, and why. If its to just type out what I am feeling like in a journal, it takes a bit longer. In here I just type as I think..

the speed is important for the typist, if you and me ,i think the quality is more important than the speed! what do you say?

oh yes, speed is nothing if it is not done right.

That depends on the adrenaline and caffiene currently flowing through my system, and if it is a keyboard I am used to. Once in awhile, my typing speed slows to a crawl when a keyboard manufacturer places a key in a different area than I am used to.

You have the point there. I know how hard it is to type in a new keyboard with a different positions of letters. It would be difficult for me too. I am used with my keyboard and my fingers are dropped in proper places. Thanks for your comment my friend.
