We have big fat black bumblebees here and I spotted the first one in the garden today. They don't sting and just buzz really loud if you come to close. But they are fun to watch as the go from flower to flower. We use to have smaller black and yellow ones but I haven't seen one of those for a few years, I wonder if they are extinct or have just moved away.

We have yellow and black bees in our garden. They are quite harmless too and nobody in my family has ever been stung by one. I know exactly what you mean about watching the bees going from flower to flower. I find it really relaxing sometimes to watch them and just have some quiet time doing so. Especially when they are on small delicate flowers. It really is quite amazing to see the small flowers bend down with the weight of the bee and then pop back up when the bee buzzes away.
