I am 26 now, but when I was 19 years old, I suffered extreme depression. I was often in a good mood, but when things turned bad---they got really ugly. My outbursts became violent and I often said and did things that made me hate myself. It was very hard for me to figure out where my depression was stemming. I had a rough upbringing.......most of us have some kind of sob story. But It didn't seem to be the cause of my problems. I had to take a deeper look at myself. The problem was that I had nothing in my life to be proud of. Lets say that I wasn't involved in my own life. I was constantly chasing other people's dreams. To help myself understand what was happening to me, I started keeping a journal. At the top of each page, I would write "good day" or "bad day" and then describe the events that occured that day. After a few months of recording my feelings I went back into my journal to reflect on what was actually bothering me. As I read my journal, I found that my outbursts would usually begin when I was feeling insecure. And it also helped me realize that I felt insecure about alot of things because, as I said before, I had nothing to be proud of. To break my depression, I used cognitive thinking exercises. I literally had to learn how to controll my hurt feelings. When I would start to get upset, it was more physical than anything. My heart would start to pound and I would sweat. I had to learn how to talk myself out of feeling like that. I would litterally tell myself, "Calm down, or you are gonna embarrass yourself". I hope this helps. If you would like to discuss this further, you can always contact me!

Thank you for your good response. I often think over my depression mood also. I had hard time to overcome them by means of talking myself and deep breath. After I recover from depression, I learned that life is very happy and world is very wonderful.

Thank you for giving me BR!! But I was only speaking from the heart. This used to be a subject that I just couldn't talk about. It made me feel weak... The thought of having depression. But really, I just had to learn how to chase the blues away.... And spare my energy for those things that I enjoy.... Some days are easier than others.

There is no one set thing that triggers depression for every person who suffers from it...just like there isnt one degree of depression....Best way to deal with it is to figure out the source of it for starters..then depending on how severe the depression is you go from there...sometimes one needs to enlist the help of a professional..sometimes its just a matter of making changes in ones life....

I can't tell you exactly how to deal with it, everyone's different. For me nothing triggers it. I think with depression there doesn't have to be one trigger. When I know I'm "in a mood" as I call it I try to just stay away from people or minimize my interaction. I'm the type of person where I don't like to talk about it or too people. If I've offened someone or upset I try to explain what I'm going through so they understand. I'm sorry I couldn't give you one simple answer but there is none. :(

Most time, its my work..with ontime deliveries and work loads. I try to divert mind on music and i feel better. We need to manage depression, as it is part of life in busy world. But if we concentrate, we can manage it. I does it through my yoga, listening music and going out on vacation.
