New laptop

I am looking into buying a new laptop...actually my husband told me to. There is nothing wrong with the one I have but he thought it might be a good idea to upgrade so I am not going to say no, LOL. What I want to know is does anyone have any good suggestions at a good price? I live in Australia, I don't really use my computer for gaming, mainly for emails, surfing, photos, instant messenger, skype, downloading music and movies. I would like one with a built in webcam for skype, a decent sized memory and user friendly because my young children will use it occasionally. I will not buy an Acer as my dad has had 2 that have only lasted 12 months! Thanks for any replies!

Thanks for your response, I am going to research those now. I refuse to buy Acer after the trouble my dad has had. I have a Toshiba at the moment and it has been great so I may stick to this brand, but I would like to find out more about the ones you have suggested.
