Yesterday, I was awaken by a loud bang of the door. I went downstairs to check it out and saw my housemate crying. She was all bruised up shaking and wet from the rain. She told me that after she got off the bus on her way to work, she was approached by a large man who grabbed her by the hair and pulled her bag. Her first instinct was to protect herself and not let go of her belongings since all of her things are there. The man dragged her about 10 feet from where she was grabbed and that caused her bruises. She even had some scratched scalp and a lot of falling hair because of that. She was shaking, cold and wet from the rain and is spiking up a fever because of the trauma. Instead of running to a police station she ran to get a cab home. This was what she thought about because first of all she doesn't have any money left, she lost all her ids and her cell phone. I called her office to inform them that she wouldn't be able to go to work because she had an accident. I explained to them that she was robbed and was hurt from the incident. Her team manager called me up and asked to speak to her, she was still in shock and wasn't able to speak, so I began to explain everything to him. I was deeply appalled when he told me this... "I am really sorry this had happened but as you can see we need people on the floor right now and I can't afford her to be absent." That caused my blood to flare up, I asked him why he is insisting that and don't he have a heart for asking my friend to forget all the trauma that she'd undergone and head to work.He answered "Well that's not my problem anymore right? Tell her to go to the police station and get a police report so we can believe that she had been robbed" My only response to him was, I hope someday if this happens to you, and your situation was worse than what happened to my friend, your boss wouldn't be treating you the same way as you're treating her. I told him that I hope this wouldn't happen to any of his family members or his friends because if it did then he would know how much of a big A he is being. What if this happened to you and you got this response from your boss how would you have handled it?
