What to avoid to prevent aging...

How to slow down the aging process - We have to avoid smoking, coffee, stress, exposure to the heat of the sun for a long time, poor diet, etc. This is to avoid the hastening of wrinkles and other tell-tale signs of aging...

According to the news article I read, the following are bad for us as they hasten the aging process: smoking, exposure to the heat of the sun, coffee - more than 300 mg per day, lack of sleep, stress and poor diet. According to this article, caffeine can cause water loss from your body and skin resulting to lack of plumpness; we therefore need to drink plenty of water. We have to avoided saturated fats found in cream and butter; too much of refined sugar can disturb collagen production resulting in wrinkles and sagging skin. Do you also avoid the above-mentioned factors? I do as much as possible....if ever I do get a lot of wrinkles, it would be due to the natural aging process, instead of being hastened due to an unhealthy lifestyle.

Isn't that odd? I smoke, drink, spend a lot of time in the sun, drink coffee, sleep extremely poorly, and yet at 65 I still pass for early to mid 50's in most circumstances. Maybe it has more to do with genetics and/or state of mind? Lash

Ah, I really envy you, but maybe it's because you're a man, men become aging slower than women.

You have listed a lot of the right things we can do and being healthy is certainly paramount and that requires us to take care of ourselves. As far as aging goes I think it depends on two main factors: genetics and state of mind. We concern ourselves with cosmetic procedures; diets etc and often fail to remember how important the spirit is. So, sure plenty of exercise, healthy food, water and not too much sun exposure are vital but let's not forget a happy, open, loving heart!
