how long should you know someone before they should propose to you?

I'm the guy in my relationship and I'm sure that the girl I am with is the one I want to marry but it's only been about 8 months. I don't have any doubts or questions but I feel like I am waiting until at least a year goes by just out of principle. I know she wants to marry me too and we talk about it all the time. I guess I just feel like there is some kind of standard I should be following. Also, we spend every night together and most days other than working but we don't live together. I think we have a good idea of how the other operates but some people say not to propose until you've actually shared a living space. Hmmm... comments?

Well,just because you say yes and accept the ring doesnt mean you have to get married right away... You can accept the ring and then be engaged for awhile before you decide on a date to get married... Honestly like alot of other people I do not beleive in love at first site. I beleive it takes someone along time to get to know you. but then again lets face it. youll never really know anyone inside and out because we have the ability to change our minds and want to be and do new things... so I would say dating for mabey a year before a proposal... Anything less then that I am not so sure I would accept and if I do. I would not set a wedding date soon after. I would wait awhile to really know the person and to decide if that is really what I want to do...

well.. i thought it was like the earliest bird catches the pray or something.. with girls it wouldn't matter if they wait for some time but with men its life in the fast lane.. you have to propose before you say hi..
