What do you do when a discussion bothers you?

I've come across a LOT of discussions that piss me off and when I do I just skip by them. There was one time when I first became a member that some people didn't agree with my discussion and they let me know in no uncertain terms. At the time my life really sucked and I was going back and forth with them until we all got banned from mylot! I realized later that I should have just let them rant and rave since we are supposed to be able to voice our opinions here no matter what they are. What do you do when you come across a discussion that bothers you? Do you skip it or give your opinion and not care what anyone else says?

heh i just rate it and move on.. No sense in getting into an argument over something on mylot that you dissagree with. What's the point if my opinion is totally oppisite of the discussion makers, there is no way in hell or highwater i will change their mind anyways.. pointless.. only makes you mad for no reason. screw it!!

Are you kidding? I verbally insult and attack the OP because they think differently than me! (just kidding of course) The truth...It depends on the discussion and my mood. Sometimes I'll state my opposing opinion, sometimes I'll stay away from the discussion. I really am not the authority on everything... I have had my share of "going back and forth" with people too. I think I'm better about backing off sooner than I once was ;-) Thanks for the discussion.

I have to agree that there are quiet a few people on here who are just plain rude. I try to avoide topics that are going to bring out a nasty response from me. I do believe in being allowed to share your opinion but some people are just mean. I am going to take the Bambi philosophy here, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't way anything at all. Nobody wants to have internet enemies and I've seen that happen becuase of thoughless responses.

yeah, i have experienced having people disagree with my response or discussion but i respect them because i think it's normal to have different views. i just don't get why sometimes people like mock at you for your opinion. so if someone responds to my discussions or comments on my reply in that way, i try to avoid arguments by ignoring them. lol.

When I see a discussion that I know for a fact would tempt me to be, shall we say, uncharitable, I leave it alone. The discussion starter can rant and rave all they want--I just don't care to be a part of it.

I guess it depends on my mood, though I normally skip it and move on to another discussion. Those rare times that I do voice my opinion I try my best to be civil about it...even when the respondent is not. And if it falls on deaf ears I try my best to ignore it and move on. It is one thing to disagree with someone, but it's another to get rude and nasty. It's not only unnecessary, but it is childish as well.

I don't response to discussions that doesn't appeal to me as giving my views would mean a lot of contradictions and would start a battle of words which am not keen to get entangled. Each time I start a discussion I would definitely get someone who go against the grain and very negative minded and sometimes uses harsh words. I think these type of people are out to get me into a debate or are on purpose to wreck my nerves. I humble myself and stoop to their level of thinking, in the end they surrender and ask for apology. If that person is not already in my friends list she normally request me to be her friend.

I try to be nice but will voice my opinion if it's something that I feel strongly about. There are times though that I don't feel strong about it but am annoyed and still try to be nice but voice suggestions, etc. I try to ignore other discussions that I know won't end well as we are here to earn and have fun, share opinions and enjoy the freedom of having our own opinion.

It depends on my mood and how strong my beliefs are on a given subject. If I feel I have nothing to add, I will just skip over it an move on. MyLot is a two way thing between people and we must respect each other views even if they differ from out own

My reaction would depend a lot on my mood but I never reply by offending someone. Most of the time I avoid discussions that bother me, especially if the topic is plain silly. What I think about the grammar used is that there should be some type of moderation even on the way things are written. Some people just want to start a topic and they start a topic that is on my lot already. Well, there is nothing really wrong with that, but starting a same topic and having all those mistakes is very careless and does not reflect nicely on the community.

If I run across a discussion that pisses me off I may voice my opinion but in a delicate way. It all depends on what it is, but I dont want to anything to ban me from this website. If it is so bad I would rate it as negative and move on. Sometimes things people say are just not worth responding to. People actually look for confrontations. Just think and ask yourself is it worth it. This is what I have been doing lately.

Before when I was new here in Mylot, I got pissed of by one of the discussion I responded too. For what I remember the one who made the discussion made fun with my response and I find it really irritating, because I am just being honest of what i had written there. I urgently reply to him (I know he is a guy) and said what I feel. Until now I haven't received a sorry coming from this guy, he must be really proud of what he has done. I already deleted him on my friends list.

I've never actually seen a discussion that pisses me off... but I see it this way, as well as in real life. If you or anyone else starts a discussion its because you're looking for people's opinions. If the originator can't handle that other people might not agree with their opinion... then they shouldn't have started the discussion to begin with. I say feel free to voice your opinion... and if they come back being an a-hole then just let it go at that and leave it be. Sorry I don't have any personal mylot experience with the discussions... but in real life i understand. lol

I reported abuse on one discussion that ignorantly criticized a whole religious group. But in general I don't really feel the need to respond to someones personal view on things. I figure each one is entitled to his or her opinion. If I feel I may be able to change the persons view on things with kind, gentle words than I do, otherwise I leave it alone.

It depends on the topic. If I think I can add something into the discussion that may enlighten the views for others reading or the poster I may respond. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, I don't agree with everyone. There's no point in going back and forth with someone if they're set in their oppionion. Nothing is going to change their mind. I'm fairly new to myLot so, thankfully, I haven't experienced any rude people. Hopefully no one has found me rude and if they did I'd hope they'd tell me.
