White House pulls a fast one on Health Care overhauls

By a vote of 227-196 Democrats moved one step closer Wednesday to using a controversial budget procedure to speed passage of President Obama's health care legislation. This will allow the legistlation to move forward with only limited debate. The process is called "reconciliation". In which they will move health care under the budget instead of being a bill. This will limit input from not only the Republicans but also moderate Democrats. THe white house (and Nancy Pelosi) are basicallly shutting most of them out of the process as much as possible. Even members of their own party. So if they get their way...healthcare will be overhauled by a select few, with little debate, and no real input and done very fast. Which means not even the general public will know much about the new healthcare overhauls until it too late and they have voted on it. Which means WE do not even get a say in it. We the citizens of this country are being shut out of the process. This is really an important issue. And not one to be rushed. We remember what happened when they rushed the bail out bill. Proper safeguards were not put in place. Bonuses were allowed to be paid and in the end most of members of congress voted on a bill they did not even get to completely read. We all have to admit that was a big mess and could have been handled better if they had slowed down by a week or two and allow more time to get it right. For the sake of the American public we should have the right and opporunity to know what the overhauls and changes are BEFORE they vote on it and have time to contact our elected officials to let them know how we feel about it. What do you think? Should they be able to do this? Can we stop them from shutting the american public out of this process?

Oh Hell NO, we have to do what ever we can to stop this from happening. How can they get away with this, I am not a fan of the purposals they are making. I want to make the decision what doctors I see, what doctors my children see and if and when they need medical attention. Not the government. They need to stay out of my health.

yep I agree with you. What also really really ticks me off is that we are beig shut out of the process. This our country. We should know what laws are being passed BEFORE they are passed and have a opportunity to voice our opinion. Everything should be done out in the open and behind closed doors.

First, Thank you and second I could not agree with you more. I am so amazed that they can get away with this. Trust me I put some calls in and sent some emails about this to my representatives, as well as had some friends do the same. It is a huge concern among many of my friends. I have never really been a fan of Nancy's to begin with and this just pushes me over the edge.
