Honesty: Is it always the best policy?

There is a motto that says honesty is the best policy. For me, it is not always the best policy.Indeed, it is righteous to be honest. But take this example. If a friend of yours just cut her hair so short and she looks like ugly on it. You saw her very happy about the outcome and she asked you if she looks good. Would you be honest and let her felt offended? In this way, I believe honesty is not the best policy. What do you think?

I think Honesty is the best policy especially in love. The best way not to offend a friend like what you have mentioned is, you can say it in another way which is better so its not directly saying that the haircut looks ugly on her. You can also suggests some hair cut to her that she can try nice time...

i believe honesty is the best policy even in the example you gave , i would just say i know you like your new hair cut but i don't think it really looks good on you , just be nice about it and explain why you think it don't look good , she shouldn't ask a question if she can't handle the truth.
