Annoyed when you've just started something and a machine lets you down?

I have spent ages trying to get enthusiastic about making some cushion covers for home and to sell. I had just got it all worked out, gathered the necessary materials etc., sat down at the sewing machine, made a start, and then the foot pedal started smoking and the machine wouldn't stop. I unplugged it, and now have all the windows open to get rid of the smoke! The pedal can be repaired, so all is not lost, but isn't it annoying. It's like when you have somewhere really important to go to and the car doesn't start or you've got some important work to do on the computer and it goes wrong. I wish machines weren't so important in our lives, but unfortunately to keep up with everyday life they are. Have you ever had a machine let you down at a bad time?
