sausage or bacon?

When you make biscuits and gravy do you prefer sausage, bacon or just plain? I am planning on making some soon. I have both bacon and mild sausage. Do you have a preference? Yes it doesn't go well with my diet, but you have to splurge once in a while right?

Hi ersmommy1,I just make sausage gravy,then but it over my biscuits.once in a while don't hurt as long as you go back on your diet.

Although if you don't have the sausage the bacon grease makes some mighty fine gravy as well..

For biscuits and gravy, I prefer sausage.

Totally agree, gotta splurge once in awhile it is what keeps us strong. Like getting little treats for being good all week, I love gravy and biscuits and when I make it is I have sausage that is my preference. And sometimes I will even make sausage gravy it seems to make the sausage stretch farther.

I have never had gravy made with bacon, but I love sausage and gravy, make it as often as I can, my husband don't eat it so it gives me enough when I make it to last a couple days.

I think I like real sausage gravy. You can't really make bacon gravy. I guess you physically could make gravy from bacon drippings, but I've never heard of it being done so I must suppose it doesn't make very good gravy. I must admit, however, that both bacon and pork sausage are essentially the same meat and the same fat rendering down after heating. I guess in theory it would work. Anyway, my vote goes to sausage to be added to the gravy and bacon for the table. :)

I make biscuits and gravy and fried potatoes with onions at least once every weekend. I use sausage, my husband likes it plain, but too bad for him Im cooking. I dont like just plain gravy, gross! I used to work with a Chef that would make biscuits and the gravy he made had eggs and bacon and sausage in it, the eggs were hard boiled. It was different but good.

I normally make mine with sausage. I remember my grandma used to make it with the bacon grease, but no actual bacon IN the gravy. It was good too. I love biscuits and gravy. I will make it plain only if I do not have any sausage. When is biscuits and gravy time? I will be sure to be there. lol
