I work in a call center where i work from 9pm until 6am. After work I go straight home, eat my breakfast sleep for about 3 hours then at 2pm head straight back to my 4hr homebased work. Unfortunately, i have been having issues with my call center work lately. I feel sleepy and sometimes go to work late. Do you have any suggestions how to keep me awake?

You are not getting enough sleep, or should I say not getting enough sleep at one time. You have three hour sleep after breakfast then at 2 work for 4 hours. You should have at least five hours sleep. In the meantime, drink coffee, get off from your seat, if you can talk to the customers standing up. Being at a computer all night with a headset on is bound to make you sleepy.

That sure is a good suggestion. I'll have to try it to see which would work for me best while i'm still juggling my time. I guess I would need to sit myself between 2 people who are talkative to keep me awake as well.

Oh geez how could you do that, you almost awake 24/7, you need to have enough sleep.I think you need to lessen your homebased work for two hours and add that two hours for your beauty sleep so you'll stay awake at your call center work. Your work is very stressfull keep healthy. Happy posting.

You are correct to say that call center work is stressful. And that is probably that is the reason why i'm more inclined to keeping my homebase job and eventually give up call center work. It's just a matter of time and hopefully in a couple of months i'll be able to get my full sleeping hours.

The only way for me to keep awake is to have a shower or have a cup of tea. I don't like coffee, so I won't rely on coffein to keep me awake. But most of the time,I just go to sleep when I feel sleepy.

Take a nap after you do your homebased work, and be sure to eat things that are healthy and give you energy. Working two job is hard, I've done it once, then I've worked one job for nearly 24 hours sometimes. In any case, just try to get as much rest as possible.

Well, get more sleep! I know its not that easy, but you could ask for different hours, or maybe expand your at home business into something you can live off of. I'm surprised you have time to use MyLot! Could you tell me why you work 2 jobs?

To be honest with you, I actually post on mylot while waiting for calls to come in or during my breaks and lunch time. It was not actually suppose to be two jobs. I can't juggle my time but i'm trying to cope with it right now while i'm trying to transition. I am looking into going full time with my work at home but with our current economic and financial status, that made me take this two jobs. I'm no superman and i know anytime soon, i would need to give up one. Otherwise, devise a way so I can still keep both without sacrificing my health.

For some, they gulp on 2 cans of Coca-Cola or munch on chocolates just to keep them awake. Coffee works for me but I don't want to drink too much for fear that I might get immuned to them and would need more cups just to keep me awake. For a more healthier way, jump up and down your workstation to jolt sleepy nerves or simply stationary walk in your place.
