Ladies: In what order do you apply your makeup?

I've always wondered if there is truly a right or wrong way to apply makeup. I've seen so many different women have different techniques for how to use their makeup and in what order to apply it, that I can't tell who's right and who's wrong. For me, it's usually foundation first, then concealer, then cheek color, then eye liner, eye shadow, mascara and finally, finishing powder. That's only for special occasions though. Daily, I use tinted moisturizer, concealer if necessary and some bronzer if it's during the winter time. So, am I doing it wrong? How do you apply your makeup?

In my case, I wash my face with a facial soap or cleanser to thoroughly cleanse my face and unclog pores. Then I use facial lotion or moisturizer to make my skin not dry-looking. I don't use foundation, just powder. I actually have face cream powder which is better because it is longer-lasting and has a smooth finish. Then I put on concealer under my eyes. After that, I put on eye makeup: eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara, cheek tint (I like it in liquid form so it would last longer), and finally, lipstick. Sometimes I put on lipgloss, too.

#1-concealer #2-foundation/pressed powder/loose powder #3-blush/cheek tint/cheek color #4-eye shadow #5-eye liner #6-mascara #7-finishing powder I think this is how to do it, this is how I do it. And this is how make up artists have done it. And it makes sense

Well I start off with washing my face, then I apply toner let it dry, I put my pencil I liner on... then I apply my liquid foundation. afterwards I use a powder puff to smooth and even the skin. then I take my pencil and go over my eye lids to make it darker. I then proceed to add on eye shadow I make sure my eye brows are lined up and apply my liquid eye liner to my eye lids then I take my lip liner and apply left to right, then my lip stick and some gloss afterwards

Usually when I do the whole make up routine I'll wash my face first with a foaming cleanser. Then sometimes I'll use moisturizer or a face primer. Not always though. Next is concealer, foundation, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, lipstick or lipgloss. When I don't want to wear full makeup I'll dab some lipstick on my cheeks and blend it in good for a nice fresh blush look. Next is lipgloss for my lips and that's it.

Hi theweerouss... That is bizarre - we have the same ritual! The only thing that I add before it is a little moisturizer. And I actually do this every day - well on every day that I leave the house. If there are days over the weekend when we're not going anywhere then I won't bother to put anything on except the moisturizer.

after i wash my face and do the moisturizer and all that, i start with the primer, because usually when you do makeup for special ocassions you want the makeup to stay for a while so i realized the primer makes a big difference in the life of your makeup. so after i apply primer in my skin and my eyes, i usually go with the foundation, i can thank god that i've never had to use much concealer, well maybe now that my daughter is born and im not getting such great night sleep i might need to use some, lol... i always start with the eyes first, because sometimes it doesnt come out exactly as you plan it, and i always play around with the blush and lip color if the eyes are too done up or down...after i finish everything i always apply one last layer of mascara, im a sucker for it, cant get enough of it! So i think my order would be, primer, foundation, eye shadow, eye liner mascara, blush, lipstick, loose powder and mascara again! :)

I'm not sure whats the right way either. I only wear foundation, concealer, powder, and lip gloss. After I wash my face I apply the concealer, then the foundation, the powder, sometimes eye shadow, and then the lip gloss. Someday I wish a celebrity makeup artist could make me over because I just know I'm not doing it right.

I don't often makeup. At first I will finish the foundation well because it is the basic makeup. Then I will have a makeup with my eyes. After that, it's the turn to my cheeks. And finally I will use lipstick. I love China

You seem to wear more makeup then i do but i do have an order i use for putting on my makeup. I use foundation first of course and then powder, then i will add my mascara, and while the top lases are drying i will apply my eyebrow pencil stuff as i have blonde hair and you can barely notice them on my white skin. Then i will put on my eyeshadow and that takes me some time because i usually always wear two different colors with some shine in them, then i will finish the mascara on the bottom and touch up the top and then that is usually about it with the makeup for me. I do have eyeliner and blush but i barely ever wear it, i will wear it for pictures or if going somewhere fancy.

For special occasions, I can't tell what order should be in applying make up. I hire beauticians during special occasions. For daily use, I usually start with concealer. After that, I apply face powder. Third will be blush on application on my cheeks. Finally, I will apply an eye shadow. This is usually my make up routine before I went out.

if there was a rule on putting make up i will definitely be the one not to follow it... lol i do what makes me comfortable. i had been into some beauty saloons and had some beautician applied make up on me for a special occasion, and i didnt like what i felt. my face felt so heavy...lol i do love make-ups, it makes me look pretty and i feel pretty too... lol for me this is how i do it... 1. first i have to wash my face (of course) 2. then i'd put on face lotion (this makes it easier to put the foundation) 3. liquid foundation 4. blush-on 5. eye shadow, then eye liner 6. lipstick that's it. when i am rushing, id skip the foundation.

I don't wear makeup... not unless my sister insists that I do, and that's when I let her do all the work on myself :D I basically only put moisturizer, loose powder or cream version of that but not a concealer and that's basically it. When I have the time, I also put on liquid eyeliner and lip gloss :D Thanks for the response on my discussion!

A few hours before putting on my make up I use a facial mask and them moisturise to get a nice even coverage. I make sure I wait about 10mins to give the moisturiser time to soak into my skin. Using a concealing stick I put this on first and gently blend a little then using a foundation brush I apply my liquid foundation and then using a big brush sweep some bronzing powder over the top. I then set it using a natural colour powder using a big brush. I then put on my eyeshadow and then eye-liner and finally mascara. If Im applying colour to my cheeks I will do this last. Sounds a lot of work but I find I then get better results.

when it comes to make-up, the lighter the better. i think the only way to go wrong in putting make up is just by overdoing it.

First I clean my face then apply moisturizer, foundation, powder, blush. Then I do my eyes, UDP on my eye lid, eyeshadow, concealer as a highlight under the brow, then I apply the eyeliner to the top and bottom, then I finish with mascara. Lipgloss or lipstick
