I think more when you're in the water especially if it is salty like the sea as the sun absorbs from salt. Also while you're in the water you want feel much the heat so you think it is not burning you.

I think when your in the water you get more burnt as the sun reflect of your body. That is what happens from my experience anyway. Please tell us the facts.

I've actually been told you are going to get burnt in that place that sun can reflect off of more, so most of the time that does mean its going to be while you are out in the water because light is going to reflect off of the water more. Now does it matter if you are laying on a raft on top of the water or actually submerged into the water? I don't know - but I'm thinking it does. All I know is I always sunbathe in my pool on a raft and thats when the topic got brought up.

I dont really know, I just get a good tan instead of burnt and I use tanning oils.. I think it would make more sense to get burnt in the water like the other mylotter said. You get burnt more if the sun has something to reflect off of and that would be the water, unless you have a bunch of sun catchin ray items all around you while you lay on the beach. Can't wait to find out the answer now...lol
