As I looked in the mirror this morning I noticed a streak of gray?

Almost every woman faces this moment at some point, mine was this morning. This morning things changed a little bit for me, a series of mixed feeling filled my head. It was like closing one chapter and opening another. My spouse has loving dubbed me "stinky" now, making a funny skunk reference. I would love to hear from other woman that have faced the same thing. How did you react? Did you do anything about it? Do you love it or hate it?

Jennidaizy, I started seeing the grays in high school. I was lucky enough that my hair looks like a great frosting job, since I'm allergic to hair coloring. People ask me all the time who does my coloring, and the front is completely white, while the back is salt-and-pepper. If you are really bothered by the gray, try coloring it. Otherwise, I hope yours grows in well, too. Take good care of it, and it will look great!

What other allergies do you have?

Steve, I have sso many allergies, it's ridiculous. Latex and many medications bring on anaphylaxis, so I carry a couple of Epi-Pens with me. I'm highly allergic to all muscle relaxants and n-saids, which makes the pain from my broken jaw pretty horrible. I can't go into my neighbor's house because I'm allergic to cats. Almost all antibiotics bring on anaphylaxis, so I'm in trouble when infections set in. I could actually go on for a very long time, but, basically, I avoid whatever I can and try to pretend I'm OK. Many medical problems are far more inconvenient, to say the least! I can't help wondering -- why do you ask?

Oh eternal youth ! When young, we really believe that age and aging can't touch us. And then it happens! Grey hairs, fine lines , a brown spot on the back of the hand, a pronounced vein at the back of your knee. ( could have been there forever, but I never really turn around to look) What to do when the first panic settles and we must face facts: we are getting older , and noticeably so! I tend to look at certain oldder woman on TV who are still, into their sixties and seventies, very very attractive. Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren, Candice Bergen...I genuinely find these woman very attractive, so age has nothing to do with it. I think its just that we suddenly realize that time passes more quickly than we thought and certain things are simply outside our control. Since there isn't much we can do about this, and since every person since beginning of time had to age , whats the big deal?? Live healthily and happily, have adventures and keep the mind young!

Right you are. If you live long enough, you get old... Your hair losing pigment is the least of it... Slaton, rhymes with Satan

I always said I would freak out when I saw my first gray hair. Actually most of my friends my age have been gray for a few years and I got my first one (that I could see) last year at 46. I was startled by it but I did not freak out too badly. I have been more bothered by other signs of aging that have been much less kinder to my body, mainly my flabby skin and loss of muscle tone, not to mention the free radical damage.

Hello Jennidaizy, I got one when I was a teenager and thought nothng about it. Now I got one a couple of years ago and I pulled it out. It seemed to make me get 2 gray hais to fill the place of the one I pulled out. Then I got one more and now I have a total of 4. I will not pull out another gray hair. I just hide it under other darker hairs.I was not happy at all when I got the one a couple of years ago. I could always use dark colored mascara to color any gray I might see .
