Thwirl or TweetDeck?

Which service is better, Thwirl or TweetDeck?
This is kind of two questions in one....
There are many people who use one or the other and Tweetdeck has been recommended, but the user interface is so large that it can be annoying so Thwirl looks like a nice way to manage Tweets on Twitter using a small window.
But, does Thwirl allow you to view general tweets in addition to your friends and followers?
I know that TweetDeck lets users have a window for each (one for followers, one for friends and another one for everyone on Twitter at the moment), unless I'm wrong about that.
Does Thwirl have the same kind of feature or similar feature?

I would also like to know the difference!
At the moment I use tweetdeck and it's great but taking less space would be nice.
