Have you ever had a massage that made you feel very irritable

I had my very first hour long massage. My arms and hands and legs and feet all felt great. While she massaged my shoulders and upper back though she commented on the knots. She pushed and prodded those knots trying to rip them out of my skin. That part of it was not enjoyable but I suffered through it in order to get those knots loosened up. She told me the knots are from stress and are toxins built up in my back. She said I should drink plenty of water to flush the toxins out of my body. Within an hour of the massage I was so irritable and just angry and stressed about everything I knew there was something wrong. I have a 4 year old and didn't want to lose my temper with him so I took a nap. The next morning I felt better, though my back is sore. Have any of you experienced anything like this? Is it normal or am I just strange. I think I will go again soon so the knots don't get that bad.

No, you're not strange. It was kind of out of line for her to say something like that - as I'm sure hearing something like that would cause more harm than good. She was supposed to help you relax, not criticize you and your "knots". I get irritated when someone tries to massage my back - but for a different reason. Mainly because I'm SO tense that it actually HURTS for people to do what they do (or maybe it's just because I've never had anyone professional do it). *shrugs*. Either way, it's not my piece of cake.
