I have been a dog owner since I can remember. My current dog is a baby girl rottweiler should I really be asking a vet to cut her tail or not..help!

definitely not. why would you want to mutilate your dog? look at that gorgeous, wriggling, happy little pup. can you honestly think of any good reason to sever part of her spine? would you really rather look at a mutilated stump than a happy, wriggly, wagging tail?

A vet said it's great to cut my baby's tail. I shouldn't be listening to him.. I cant bear to see my lil girl cry..=] thanks for that!

sounds like you need to find a proper vet. I wouldn't want any vet that encourages cosmetic mutilation of a perfect puppy to be working on my animals. it's like thinking your child would look better with their little fingers and toes cut off. yes they can function without, but it doesn't mean it's right.

Unless you intend to enter the Show Dog Circuit, there is really no need to dock a dog's tail or ears. Natural is always better. Any vet that recommends it is only after the money.

No. Tails that are docked really need to be done at about 3 days of age. Anything older than that should only be done if there's a medical reason for the procedure.

How old is your dog? We had to have our 12 year old rottweiler put to sleep about 3 months ago. It was very hard. Her tail was docked, but it was already like that when we bought her. I don't know if I could have it done after the dog is in my possession. Who made up these rules on what dogs should have their tails & ears docked & dew claws removed?
