Problems with Hotmail

Hi guys, I need a little advice, my firends hotmail account has a virus where it signs her in all the time and pops up a messenger window with ads. Some of which a rude!! My 11 yr old has told me some of her friends also have the same problem, which is a little worrying as she uses messenger to communicate with her friends all the time as it's free. I don't want to stop her using it but I don't want any of us to end up with it too. Is anyone familar with this or do you know how to get rid of it so I can advise the parents of my daughters friends and my friend?? Any help & suggestions will be great Thanks Mrsl x x
