I download video and music files almost every day. The sites where I download are trusted and so far I do not encounter virus attack. I have an antivirus installed in my laptop and it actually scan for viruses what I downloaded.

I download a lot, and I do mean a LOT from the Internet. I've been doing it ever since 2001 with a 1-year break in 2002. From 2003 onwards i've been storing the files I like and/or been of interest to me for personal archival purposes for offline usage. Websites, text, music, videos, games, full movies and clips, .zip files, ANYTHING. During my journeys and trials on the Internet, i've learned it always changes non-stop, and what's here today may be gone tomorrow, so i've decided to store the good stuff I find onto my hard drives for offline viewing so that just in case I don't have a connection to the internet at all, I can fall back to my offline files that i've downloaded it from. At this rate I must be up to half a terabyte or up to it.

so basically you worry about your computer safety ? then it's easy, after downloading much files one day you will develop this kind of instinct, it will tell you which sites is bad and which site is a good source. sure it will be annoying at first, but you will get over it ( I know because I am, lol). but then again back to your original concerns, if you really afraid then I have some solution for you, it probably the most primitive way and the easiest way to get over your fear of virus, without actually reinstalling the whole OS. and the magic trick is : ghost drive, simple huh..., you just need to ghost your OS drive, and when something bad happens you just need to roll it back to it's original state, no virus included !! and don't forget to move you free-from-virus music files outside your ghost drive, because it will wipe alongside the virus. but then again downloading blindly is bad you know :D, it's good to keep your greed in control.

i download a lot of things from ehte internet but i have good quality antivirus software and i make sure to scan the downloaded files before actually using them. but sometimes, the virus is not in the downloaded file but in the webpage itself so i installed avira antivir. a popup window opens whenever the site you're trying to access is a possible threat. it will give you the option to be denied ccess to the website instead of letting you in and contracting the virus.

Around 250mb to 300mb per day. That at my office itself. I downloads music, movies (small movies ), games and latest softwares. At our office we taking just 512kbps net connection, but still when i try to donwload something download speed also around 250kbps. So even that 300 mb i can download with in 1 hour.

hye..actually malware is something very common..when you always install something that you get from internet you might install viruses along with that file. mostly file .exe and the only way to prevent this is using good antivirus.

Well occasionally I subscribe to rapidshare and download music and some movies. Not too regularly I add. Though I do scan what I download and if there are user comments that say this file has viruses, I simply do not download it. I prefer using paid sites such as I-tunes and amazon to purchase music in the proper way.

I do not know because if i find some movies or music that i like in the internet i download it freely. I have my firewall and virus protection to my PC so i am not afraid of the viruses. and i have always my ghost copy of my PC so i can format it when it has a virus and then put the ghost CD that all.

To put it short..I think I just downloaded too much music, none viruses and some tv shows from my favourite band weekly. But I think it's not dangerous at all if you know what sites are trustworthy and your souces are clean as well.
