I think one needs sufficient sleep and that too in the night. It is a normal routine in our life. But , if for some reasons, a person has to work in the night and sleep in the day, his/her routine gets disturbed. It will certainly result in some problem. In any case, this person will miss the day life as all others will be working in day time.

I believe it breaks the body's natural rhythm and prevents the body from releasing certain chemicals that are released during the night hours, when the body is at rest. I have also read that REM sleep is affected by people who sleep during the day. My husband worked nights for a couple of years before I met him. He swears that even though, he covered the windows completely, so light could not get in the room & slept at least 7.5-8 hours each day, he always felt tired...not physically tired, mentally tired...almost like he was only getting less than 5 hours of sleep.

oh that means you are affected by insomia Sleepless nights. Hey do you know that if you sleep less at night not even required hours then your lifespan gets decreased. So sleep well in nights man. I think you should try for simpler tips which can make you sound-sleep at nights. Do practice youga before going to bed then you will sleep like demon..lolz. Another tip is drink a glass of warm milk before going to bed, if you don't drink milk then go for a glass of buttermilk and if don't like this too then i don't know what other drink makes you sleep. Meditation is best medicine for excellent sleep. Sleeping in day make you ill...DON'T DO THAT. Day sleeping manipulates and alters all the activities of your body and slows down your metabolism...Avoid day sleep as far as possible...ok

I have heard that its bad to sleep all day and be up all night, that it isnt' a natural rhythm, but I am in the same boat you are. I tend to sleep all day and be up all night. I was up all night last night and I'm hoping that I can stay up all day today so that I can sleep tonight, because if I give in to my tiredness and sleep all day, it will just perpetuate the cycle. Do what I do and try to stay up all day today so you will be so tired tonight you just fall asleep. I know its tough, its a bad cycle to get into.
