Martyrs

I was searching around and I found this. Should have known you would have posted about it I have to agree with you the second half of this movie is very disturbing and not many horror movies have that effect on me. The torture scenes were just a bit too real and very uncomfortable to watch. The ending, that is the big mystery, isn't it? I have read a lot of explanations. Anna did not see anything and Mademoiselle killed herself not being able to live with what she had done, killing all the women in vain or Mademoiselle killed herself just to keep the cult alive, thus becoming a Martyer herself and continuing the research. Then as you say Anna could have just lied to prevent it happening again. OR Anna really did have a great vision on what lies beyond and said whispered something so wondrous that Mademoiselle could not wait to transcend and be there and so killed herself. That's my thoughts anyway. The line. "keep doubting", is the one that makes any of the theories possible in my opinion. I like movies that have you thinking and talking long after they are over.
