How do I make a resume that lists my skills and not my employment history?

Can someone please give me an example or sample template to follow for this... See between January 2007-May 2008, I had a bad employment history period where I was job hopping while I was going to EMT school. Before EMS, I was doing call centers, customer service, that sort of thing. I graduated from EMT school in May 2008 and have been working as an EMT since July 2008, I've been there for like 10 months now and I feel good about it. I'm not going to leave this company, but I'm looking to switch to per diem and work somewhere else part time, somewhere not in health field that is, but in call centers/customer service/the stuff i was doing before. I wanna do this because the EMT company I'm at only pays $11.50 an hour, for the 2nd job I don't care if its $10 per hour, I just want a second job so that I can make ends meet. So in order to hide my previously horrible employment history where I was job hopping before I settled (because I know this is going to scare most employers), someone told me there's a way I can redo my resume so that I can hide my employment history and only list my skills. How can I do this exactly? Also, what can I do about my references? Because honestly the ones I have right now suck and they're from my job hopping period, I don't want them to talk crap about me, so what can I do about that?

I don't know if I can help you or not... but if you have Word 2007 on your computer it has several sample resumes and one might suit what you need. Also their website has several to choose from and they can also be tweeked just a little here and there to help meet your need. Not much... but hey... it might be a place to start!
